If we don't start closing games better

Second game of the season. Everyone relax. I agree with what you're saying. However, I think it gets fixed.

I was really disappointed that we had twice as many turnovers as assists. We made it really hard on ourselves today. A lot needs to be fixed but I saw some good things and a win is a win.

Jesus! Another single-digit win against a lowly-regarded opponent. I’m not feeling nearly as confident in these Vols as I did prior to the season. Before I learned that we would be without the services of Maymon for at least a month, I figured we had an excellent chance of winning this tourney. Now, I think we’ll be lucky to survive our second game. This team should be better than this even without Jeronne. There's something fundamentally wrong with this team.

Difference in the game was 3 point shooting. If we don't limit them to 1, the game could have been very different.

They took care of business and won. Move on to tomorrow.

Stokes was out a lot there at the end with foul trouble when they pulled closer. That and we were running time off the clock.

Easy bro, only the second game. I do agree they need to close better but it's too early to get on the ledge.

same as last season, very sloppy, rushed/outofcontrol play by our guys, not very disciplined for a CM team. I know its the first of the season, but these guys played in Europe and should be farther along than they are. The big thing missing from this team is pure shooters- we have 0 on our team. We have to force every shot. Other teams (UNC Ashe) have players that can step into a jump shot and sink it if left open and we seem to brick it.... Maymon can't come back soon enough. If we could find some pure shooting from the perimeter, we would be in better shape, but until then, its gonna be a long season...

Remember, there's only one senior out there right now, and let's be honest, he isn't really a senior (Kenny Hall). He's more of a sophomore in terms of experience, maturity, etc.

They are young. It's simple things that can be corrected. Is it somewhat worrisome? A little bit. But if they are doing this in December with Maymon, then it's time to panic.

Just a terrible season.

I'm trying to stay optimistic. Of course, it helps that I didn't see today's game. If I had actually seen the ending, I'm sure I'd be singing a different tune.

But the fact of the matter is in both games we were able to get such a big lead that it didn't matter how we closed. There is definitely something to be said for that.

If Skylar McBee isn't a pure shooter, then there's no such thing as a pure shooter.

I'm tempering my expectations of this year's Vols at least until we get Maymon back. Without him, this team isn't prepared to scale the heights I thought they would and I don't see us doing much damage in the SEC. Hopefully, he'll be the spark that ignites the fireball.

How much conditioning work is Maymon getting right now? A knee injury is tough on keeping up with basketball conditioning.

Not exactly sure, but seeing him in street clothes he looked pretty good (I know, I know).

Even if he gives you just 20 minutes for the first month he comes back, that helps you with rebounding, defensive rotation (he's good at that), gives us another scoring option, gives Stokes/Hall more breathers, and helps with the foul situation.

It's only the second game. I agree, we for sure have to patch up A LOT, but that is the good thing about basketball because you have plenty of time to do that.
