If we finish 10-2 / what bowl game?

Will fans still travel to meaningless bowl games?

I wouldn’t. Unless we got the Liberty Bowl and I could drive 30 minutes to get there.

I certainly wouldn’t pay for flights, or hotels. Those days are gone.
Tv money still matters. Long as they make money they’ll keep having them.

Getting a bowl game outside of the playoffs is like getting an invite to the NIT. We should just decline and save the university the money.
Been saying that all year, Bowl games are now irrelevant. Yes, I know it gives a team a few extra weeks of practice, blah blah. Eventually most, if not all fans, will not attend. With the opt outs it is nothing more than a scrimmage game.

If they really want to save the bowl games, then move them to the spring and have spring scrimmage between 2 schools who don’t play each other.

Been listening to Pate on YouTube talked about the growing concern of not having enough players to field a team for the meaningless Bowl games.

They need to be locked in to beat Vandy if just for prides sake. Pavia is a gamer and they will give it all they have.

I agree on bowls now that the CFP era is here. I’d go if it’s close by and relatively inexpensive but who’s gonna drop $$$ for a meaningless bowl with playmakers sitting (as they should) to prep for NFL.

I think at this point in college football maturity that bowls, outside of the CFP, are only there to make sponsors and others money. It’s not about the competition and glory or winning the bowl game. No one is going to play in them if they even remotely get an NFL grade and at that point it’s like watching a spring time scrimmage. LOL.

Worst part about it is we are in that mix as of last night.

Texas beating A&M + Florida beating Ole Miss would pretty much make us a playoff lock as long as we beat Vandy
More eggs have to be fried than those two. We are in the position of wait and see.
Too many moving pieces to count us out and too many moving pieces to put us in.

Which leads me to the one thing hated the most and will be a determining factor --- the Playoff Committee.

We put ourselves in that position.

The scenario I just described would make it such that no more than 4 SEC teams finish 10-2 or better. The SEC is almost certainly getting at least 4 bids at this point after the BYU loss, which will make the Big 12 a near lock to be a one bid league.

I hate to see the football season end and will look forward to the bowl game. There are plenty of good/decent teams available to populate the bowls. 11-2 would certainly be a super season in my estimation.

The composure of the CFP Committee should be a concern not the games being played. Win out and your scenario doesn't mean as much because there will be lots of reasons we made it or did not.

10-2 in almost any year prior gets us in the CFP under the current format. In 2022, even w/ the loss at South Carolina we would’ve hosted a CFP game against Kansas St. I do think we are one of the best 12 teams and deserving of an at large bid. BYU losing helps. It sounds crazy, but Bama winning the SEC title would help us. Also, Bama losing to Auburn would knock them out . I think aTm needs to beat Texas bc the Texas resume is not good for a 2 loss team. They’ve beaten exactly no one . There’s still a path.

Bowling is about practice and seeing what you have for next year.
I still enjoy watching it

It doesn't matter anymore. Not making the CFP........that"s all you will be judged on moving foward.

I am not sure we are out yet. Can't say for sure. 50/50. Just too much football left.

If we miss the CFP the best we can do is Citrus because the NY6 bowls are the CFP quarters and semis now.

I don’t agree that all hope is lost for the CFP though. There’s definitely still a path even if it means needing a little help

Lots of teams need help for the CFP. Basically, what is happening right now - if you lose you drop 6 to 7 spots to the place where you may or may not make the playoffs. That is what they did with UGA, what they will do for BYU and us. BYU will drop further because of who they lost too - and being honest they should have lost last week. Then all the teams that won move back up.

The championship games are also a factor. While it would be good to play for your conference title, it you have 2 losses in a conference where other teams have 2 losses, unless you are sure you can win - it may be more advantageous to not play in that game.

I know some would say a team that plays in the conference championship and loses should trump those that do - but when there are multiple teams with the same record and the winner is selected by tiebreakers like the SEC has - those teams in may not actually be the best in the conference.

Right now, there are 6 SEC teams looking for a spot (Texas, A&M, UGA, Bama, Ole Miss and TN). The loser of the SEC championship game will have either 2, 3 or 4 losses (A&M has a loss outside of conference play - they can't afford to lose another game) And it is very likely that there will be some teams that don't play that have 2 losses.

If we somehow had a berth in the Bahamas Bowl (or whatever it's called), I'd make a week of it and get some beach time and fishing in, and see some football in a unique spot. But otherwise, I agree. Shelling out money to go to the American Standard Toilet Bowl or the Moe's Burrito Bowl doesn't seem appealing.
