If we were to land these recruits, could we have a real chance at winning the East next season?

DE - Mackey, would add immediate depth at DE. Would also allow M. Jackson to move to DT & add more depth there

DT - Wright, would give us the depth we have been looking for. Would have Hughes, Couch, Jackson, Walls, Wright as a solid rotation

LB - Dawson, along with AJ would add some much needed talent & both could be in the 2 deep

DB - Lanier or Moore, either one would upgrade us at DB. Once again would give us ALOT of depth in the secondary.

RB - Bellamy, would be the perfect compliment to Poole & Neal. Is the speed back Dooley is really wanting in this class.

TE - Rome, would be a starter from day 1 since Dooley loves the 2 TE sets. Is a recieving threat & would compliment Rivera very good.

Now I know Rome & Bellamy are long shots but if could somehow pull those guys in this class I honestly believe we could have a real shot at the East & a trip to Atlanta next year.

Side Note: I understand alot of things can happen from now until next season, I also know that the OL has alot of growing up to do & Bray needs to continue to improve.

Offensive Depth Chart:

RT: Thomas, Richardson
RG: Schofield, Jackson, Kerbyson
C: Stone, Crowder, Gooch
LG: Fulton, Pair
LT: James, Posey

TE: Rivera, Rome, Clear, Downs (RS)

FB: Fugate

RB: Poole, Bellamy, Neal, T. Smith (RS)

WR: Hunter, D. Rogers, Arnett, Dallas, Z. Rogers

QB: Bray, Simms, Nance, Worley (RS)

Defensive Depth Chart:

DE: Mackey, Bohannon, J. Williams
DT: Hughes, Walls, Couch, Jeffrey, Saulsberry (RS)
DT: Couch, M Jackson, Ayers, Clark, Carson (RS)
DE: Smith, Miller, Martin

LB: Lathers, Crump, M Jackson
LB: A Johsnon, Propst, AJ Johnson, C. Harris (RS)
LB: King, Vereen, NMT, Dawson

CB: Lanier, Teague, Anderson
CB: Gordon, Waggner, Coleman, T. Thomas

FS: Jackson, Randolph
SS: Brewer, Martin

K: Palardy P: Darr

KR: Arnett/Dallas, Young PR: Young

Side Note: This is not what I think the depth chart will be set like, it's just a indication to show the depth we would have next year.

Could that roster compete & win the SEC East next year? Also take into consideration the staff turnover so far for other shools & the key players those schools are losing.

once again, our depth is depending on JC transfers and true freshmen to help what we already have which is still lacking on defense IMO

Its gonna help, no doubt. Will it be enough next year? IMO no. But the depth gap will be getting less obvious.

I like that breakdown. My thoughts are that the LB's are looking weak. I don't think Austin Johnson will be good enough to help us win the SEC. I do think AJ or Dawson will be good, but they'll need a year. Maybe Probts will get significant playing time too... Just, out of what you have listed I'm concerned about LB's the most for next year.

Without question the LB core will be the weakest position on the team next season. We need to land Dawson & Turene to go along with AJ so we can upgrade talent. Even then they would be true freshmen.

Compete maybe, but winning the east is a stretch. Just because you add depth doesn't mean the talent is that much improved over everyone else's in the sec just yet.

JMoore, which longshot do you think we have a more realistic shot at? Rome or Bellamy?

I agree. we're in better shape for Rome than we are Bellamy..... i hope we get good talent at LB too, but it'll be a least a year before any of them become impact players. Sure, they may contribute as true freshman, but we won't see them as big impact players for at least another year.

I think GVX reported Pair tore his ACL. Doubt he makes the 2-deep if I'm remembering that right.

Pair tore his ACL, already had surgery & should be good by Spring according to Hubbs.

Yes I think Oku transfers, wouldnt be surprised if Williams & Meline did too.

I think Pair is expected to be out for the spring and not returning until summer.

I think I remember one of the keys to Toney Williams commitment was LK promised him he would play H-back and not try to make a FB out of him. Personally I would like to see him used as a FB because it may be the only way he ever sees the field but I could see the move also leading to him transferring. Its a shame too because that spring after he signed before his injury he was all the hype.

Jmoore, the depth is definitely improving but IMO we have to much youth making up our depth and we are still 2 yrs away from Atlanta. but another solid class next year like this one is shaping up to be and we'll be feeling good about our chances to win the East and possibly the SEC. For this year I just wanna be ranked again. Seems like forever since we've even cracked the Top 25. It'll be a great feeling just to see those little numbers (whatever they may be) out in front of the TENNESSEE on the scroller at the bottom of the screen. lol

Ben Martin third string? Is that right? Is there something wrong with him? I seem to recall him being a projected starter prior to his injury.

Dag Nammit, I just went back to check on Ny Oliver and saw where you said this was not a projected two deep so disregard the preceding post.

On that note, jmoore, what are your thoughts on Oliver?
