If we lose 1 of the next two games....

One more win, regular season or in the SECT, and we're in. Lose out the rest of the way, we might still get in, but I'll be sweating it out on Selection Sunday until I see our name called.

this. only way we miss the tournament is if we lose the rest of our games. even then i still think we make it.

And don't at least make it to the SECTCG, we will not go to the dance. This team has not been very good the last 14 games, and have a losing record during that time. This would be a great year to win the SECT, because it may take that to get in.

Wrong.

I've got to disagree here. I think UT is in regardless of what happens in the next two games and the SEC tourney.

UT is in.

im still not positive just because we beat SC were in. were just not that good people sorry, the bad losses are out weighing the great wins right now, if kentucky pounds us and we lose in the first round of the SECT, theres a good chance we slip outta the NCAAT

I think if we beat UK. (I find this very unlikely by the way) we will get in even if we lose USCjr. And our first game in the sec tourny. IMO

Don't you think that they would pick UT just so the sports announcers would be able to trash Bruce Pearl?

One more regular season win, and we're definitely in. The selection committee no longer considers last 10 or 12 games as a factor. We have too many good wins, and our strength of schedule is too strong for us not to get in.

And too many bad loses as well. Charlotte, USC, Oakland, and CoC are four games we should win period. Yes, we have beaten the likes of Villanova, Pittsburgh, and Vandy twice but the bad loses can't be overloooked.

From the above we have 4 good wins & 4 bad loses. Which wins out for a chance at the big dance? I'm not at all set on us getting into the NCAAT. Jimmy Dykes and others seem to think we're in anyhow. It's the RPI and SOS that would back that claim.

Still, I don't think we're a lock by any means. Heck, I'd be happy with an NIT birth with this team. We played over our heads for the 1st 7 games this season. We came back to earth and really played as I expected since. I said we'd lose at least 9-10 games before the season started.

I picked us to finish 4th in the SEC East. We're 5th now and only ahead of South Carolina. We're not an NCAAT team to make any noise. Do we deserve to go? Maybe, but I don't like our chances at winning even in the 1st round. We have a better shot at winning in the NIT. Nobody wants to admit that or wants to accept the NIT over the NCAAT.

It's just a better chance with this particular team. Is the NCAAT better exposure? Sure, but I don't wanna watch anymore painful beat downs of this team. They are so inconsistent from all positions. Hopson has been the only consistent player in the past 8-10 games.

We aren't good enough for an NCAAT run or even possibly one victory in the tournament. We might could win the NIT depending on who gets left out of the NCAAT.

.......and what if we do get in? We will loose the first game anyway; 8-9-or 10 seat.... Doesn't matter. I almost hope they don't get in - I'm so tired of falling exhausted on the floor with heartbreak (I say that with some jest).....

Next Year can't come soon enough!

Maybe you should focus on the now, as next year is going to be so much worse.

Are you really saying you'd rather go to the NIT than the BIG DANCE? Seriously?

I'd much rather lose first round of the NCAA tournament than win the NIT. What would winning the NIT do for anyone, anyways?

It really doesn't matter that much as recruiting and the future of the program isn't going anywhere anyway with the absurd decision to stick with Pearl regardless of the NCAA sanctions.

If we were in the NIT, I'd actually rather not win it because then people will forever know that we were in the NIT.

I'm actually with you on this as well. Don't want to hear "Tennessee NIT champions" every game next year.
