IF we lose to KY...

3 more years

If things don't improve there will only be 2 more years.
I personally want Butch to be a winner because it means that we will be good again faster than going threw another coaching change.
Having said that I have no idea if he's going to be a winner. "I ain't even got an opinion"

Keep calm and wait for Gruden.

I hear this Gruden thing all the time, and I am hoping folks are joking...Our fans still have the silly idea that we can get any coach we want, whenever we want, regardless of the trouble we had during our last HC search..Regardless of that, why does so many ppl believe Gruden is the "God of Coaching"..The man won 1 Super Bowl, and let's remember so did Barry Switzer...

Things will improve after 1 recruiting class and more after the 2nd. Not sure if my dad was correct attributing this quote to Bear Bryant, but you can't win the Kentucky Derby with a mule.

I think everyone on this board is a little nuts. CBJ knew what he signed up for with this team and football program. Things ain't going great but everyone and their brother knew this wasn't a 10 win team--I think a lot of us knew 6 wins was a stretch (I was hoping for 6-6). It'll get better---Daniel Hood said as such and the players actually bought into this guy...they didn't buy into Dooley. The Vandy loss yes you can blame the coaching staff---they weren't perfect either. The answer isn't and can't be firing another coach.

As far as Kentucky goes I think we need to win---believe it or not there is still motivation for the game.

So, exactly how much was on the table to lure a top notch coach, Slice? We've been down this road before. I think it's like fishing. You throw out the size of bait depending on what size fish you want to catch. We threw out small bait again.

I feel that CBJ will win here---and if he can't that speaks to a deeper problem with Tennessee and the administration and their relationship with the AD.

If we lose to KY it will be the same as the Vandy game. We will all be pissed off and ready to throw in the towel. The negavol morons will come on here saying this is the lowest of the low blah, blah, blah. Butch is not the right guy because he came from Cincy. We suck, we have no talent and its the worst team in UT history because we lost 8 games.

Realistic vol fans will be pissed off and realize that we need time to rebuild the program and know that Butch is the guy to do it. Does it really matter? Not really. As far as recruiting goes, if we lose recruits just because of our losing season then those recruits were never serious about joining our team and we don't need them.

I expect many snide and stupid replies to what I just posted and frankly I don't care. Our fan base is pretty pathetic right now. All some can do is muster enough keyboard toughness to come on to VN and think that the team owes them something or that they know more about coaching than real coaches.

Lovely, the Negavols thing again. So far, the "PosiVols" have pushed Kiffen, Dooley and, now, BuJo. I understand the thinking, but not a good record to date.

This one time Sly, you are misinformed.

Hart and Cheek must go first. I think a big time AD can get Gru to Knoxville.

I never felt good about Kiffin or Dooley. I was reluctant to jump aboard the Butch Train too early, but by the start of the season he had me believin'.

Clearly my confidence, especially in his main support staff, is shaken. I think losing to KY and Vandy will sour a great day in February. We will have no momentum going into Year Two, and we have to see HUGE improvement as a team next year despite losing a lot of NFL talent this year.

We would have a better chance at landing Saban than Gruden. Get over it. He will never come here. Also he has never been a CF head coach and there is nothing that says he would be a winning coach at the collegiate level.

Will it even matter?

I almost think the coaches are playing to lose, so they can use the recruiting pitch of "this team sucks, I want my players on the team"

Will losing to KY cause any concern for the pro-CBJ crowd? Or is this season a wash regardless of what happens?

Because I've heard fans say both so far. And to me, losing to KY is never a wash

All games matter. This one has historical significance as we are only one of 2 programs never to lose 8 games in a regular season.

I sure hope they play with more focus and intensity than they did last week. Jones doesn't need any more upsets at his expense, neither do we as fans.

If we lose to Kentucky, the only thing it means is that they scored more points.

Not true! Dooley was definitely was too small to swallow the bait.

No coach plays to lose.

I question their motives sometimes myself. I highly doubt all the walk-ons we're playing are better than our scholarship guys. No way Toney or Swafford are better than Moore yet they seem to be on the field much more. I can't believe Jacob Carter is better than any WR on the roster, other than Josh Smith.
