If we miss the NCAA...

Yeah, reading that recap brought back some bad memories. I remember thinking we'd be in the tourney that year and then we completely fell apart at the end.

I was at the Vandy game in Nashville and I remember celebrating with a big group of UT fans because we all thought UT had wrapped up a bid. Then Jon Higgins was ruled ineligible and the Vols no-showed against Auburn in the SECT and suddenly what felt like a good season turned into crap.

Maybe we don't need fans that still regurgitate a phrase from a total loser coach who won as many sec games as a guy picked at random from the knoxville phone book could have in 3 yrs.

"That's not VFL"....those always make me laugh

Thought VFL was started during Manning's time in Knoxville ? Sort of a greeting between players....could be wrong but I read it somewhere. Carry on.

The 4-21 SEC coach started it...really he renamed a program we've had f yrs...but the way people still use the term seems as crazy as bama fans talking about "holding the rope" after coach fran left

That's because the VFL program was publicized. It's the sad state of pretty much everything these days. If it doesn't apear in the paper, it never happened.

If both teams are in it (UK and UT) I'll be cheering both on and watch the games. Simple really.

Last time UK was in the NIT Perry Stevenson threw down a nasty dunk on UNLV, iirc.

NIT is pointless, the team doesn't even give a ****, that's why MTSU came in and eliminated us last year

NIT isn't pointless. It gives the team more practice and the later rounds can be fun to watch - especially if they get to MSG

You think we lost to MTSU because the team didn't care? Did you watch them game? You think they decided to quit caring with 5 minutes left?

It's pretty pointless. There's been very little correlation between good NIT runs and future success.

I think the only good it is for is it lets the seniors put on the uniforms a few more times.

Meh

Nothing wrong w getting some more games under the belt.

I like watching the Vols play so I'm all for it. If you would rather watch spring training baseball then have at it

Didn't say I wouldn't watch; I just don't really get that upset if we lose, nor will I get all giddy if we won the whole thing.

:ermm:

I'm always happy to see the Vols win. And I'm bummed when they don't. I thought that's what being a fan is about. Not just fair weather when "it matters"

I like watching Vols basketball, so I'm in. Hell, I'd even make the drive up to MSG if they were to get that far in the NIT. Hopefully it's moot and they make the big dance, but either way, it wasn't too far back that the NIT prospects looked bleak.

I remember that

Honest question here... would you rather see the Vols be one and done in the big dance or make the finals in the NIT?

Lose by 30 in the first round vs win it two years in a row...I mean I just could not possibly care.less..just a sign of failure and I wish we would turn it down. Of course that mercer vs ut potential matchup gets the juices pumping don't it?

One and done. No question.

I honestly am on the fence. Last year I thought the NIT was the better outcome because I thought it would give the team more games and give Stokes more experience for this season. But that didn't turn out so well. I'm not sure an extended run in the NIT this year offers much of a benefit. I sense the players are not going to be into any NIT game.

I would rather go 1 and done in the NCAA than win the NIT. IT IS A POINTLESS TOURNAMENT
