If we win out do we go to tourney or do we have to win sec tourney too ?

Not possible for an at/large in a league this bad. We need the tourney champ bid.

this is idiotic, if UT wins out they will end the year on a nine game win streak with wins over UK, UF, and Mizzou during the streak. they would have to absolutely **** all over themselves in the SEC tourney to miss out at that point

IMO, the only way we go dancing is win out and at least win two in the sect. We need 2 wins against Florida and we need teams like Ole Miss and Bama to fall flat on their face. I still dont see more than 4 teams going dancing this year.

Puts them in serious bubble talk for sure. Saying it makes them automatic is idiotic.

I think some of you guys need to start your decent back to Earth. That was a great win for sure, but that UK team is terrible. This "winning out" is a bit far fetched. It's possible, but not probable. Some of you are acting like you're going to be disappointed if we don't.

I think a lot will be disappointed because going to the tourney became a yearly habit. Fair or not, it's what teams and CCM will be judged by.

20 gets us serious consideration but is not a lock because as someone said, teams get in on history even if another team may deserve it more in the current year.

20 wins if our RPI is in the mid 40s and we get in no matter how we get there. If the Vols win out they are in.

There will most likely be 2 more losses before the sec tourney. Fla, and Missouri or Ga. Hell, Lsu might be a handful, too.

Don't let this game go to your heads just yet.

Math to back it up???

RPIforecast has our RPI better than 55 in every possible scenario in which we have 20 wins on selection Sunday. How many teams from a major conference can you name me that got snubbed with a RPI <55 since the field expanded?

I don't get why people think this about other teams, what they doesn't matter. Look at history and the numbers...if you're RPI is <50 have 20 wins, and play in a major conference...you're usually getting in.

Beat Florida and Mizzoui with winning at least 3 other games and we are in. That would give us 4 wins iirc against top 50 teams.

This team needs 21 wins to get into the tournament. I say win the rest of the regular season and 1 tourney win or the more likely scenario, lose to UF but get 2 wins in the SEC tournament. Either way, this team has finally hit their stride

It truly is one game at a time...3 games ago we were 11-10 (3-6), the NCAAT was thought of as less likely than pearl coming back to UT. Tennessee would need to go 8-1 over their next 9 and win atleast one in SECT probably.

Now they've won 3 straight. They're at 14-10 (6-6) the RPI continues to climb closer and closer to tournament range and the chances to make that run have improved. I know it sounds simplistic, but with each win the percentages go up. We are now needing to go 5-1 and win one in the SECT.

Win Tuesday and it's that much closer.

I didn't say it made them automatic, I said as long as they didn't **** themselves in the SECT they would be in at that point. 6-0 would mean they need 1 win in the SECT, not the whole thing. Do you even realize how bad the field is this year?

Still think they are going to need a good SEC T, not win it...but win some there. Just dont think this UK win means we are going to run the table. The guys did look good, though...

Win the freakin SEC tournament period. We haven't won it since Devoe's era. Walk before you can run.

Looking back I dont think anyone said anything about winning the SEC tourney. All lot of people said win out with 1 or 2 wins in the tourney. But nobody was running with their walking shoes on...

Glad to see some perspective here.

One game at a time fellas.

20 wins should do it but I don't feel overly confident about LSU, UF, TXAM, or UGA.

Well, since none of us are actually playing, we can be as over confident as we want. My misguided over-confidence going into the Georgia game had little to do with UT's poor performance... at least I don't think it did. :ermm:

Too many ups and downs with this team for me to feel over confident.

Just a few weeks ago, it was openly being discussed that this team could go winless on the road in the SEC.

I hope they pull it off. This athletic program needs something positive to happen to it.

Also, Cuonzo has his faults IMO but not being a good guy isn't one of them.
