Do you fire Petrino?

Do you fire Rick Pitino in Louisville for what he did?

Do you Fire Bruce Pearl?

I can't think of any other "big" head coaches lying recently or I'd throw out more. But, in these scenarios, there is NO NCAA sanctions or punishments, simply the "hit" on your universities' public image by the conduct of the coaches.

So, I ask you. Do you fire them all, some, none? What is the price of winning to you?

Can't speak for the Pitino situation but I'd fire Petrino and Pearl.

I would not want to deal with the public relations headache that Arkansas is going to deal with and lying and purposefully breaking the rules never gets you anywhere for Pearl.

Not the case on the Pearl situation. The NCAA would have lowered the boom. The AD had no choice.

Actually this is not your answer but my wife's cousin from Michigan is an AD at a smaller division school in Ohio.

I would fire petrino and the girl. She was engaged to a school employee allegedly.

She was/is engaged to the swimming coach, whose office is in the same building as Petrino's. Fire Petrino IMO. His offense of engaging sexually with one of his employees is questionable.

Incorrect with Pearl, so you need to throw that one out.

I think you guys are missing what I'm saying by no NCAA sanctions since two people so far have misunderstood what I meant..

In the scenarios (hypothetical ones), there is NO NCAA involvement whatsoever. No Post seasons Ban for Pearl/show cause. Just him being caught lying.

Same with Tressel/Joepa now that think more. No NCAA punishments, just the PR hit and the embarrassment of it all.

hard to separate that out since he lied to the NCAA which is what made it so egregious.

Pearl was a different situation.

In my perfect world, Petrino and Pitino don't get fired. Their actions had nothing to do with the school or their perfomance (most likely, anyway), so I don't see what grounds the AD would have to fire them on. Unless there were some stipulations in their contracts.

It's still different because Pearl lied to NCAA investigators in a high-profile investigation. He can be sanctioned for that while Petrino and Pitino cannot.

Petrino had a relationship with a subordinate employee. It had everything to do with the school.

Problem is the air of impropriety with Petrino. His mistress is hired 3/28. Can't tell me that wasn't going on before the hire. Law suits are likely.

All 3 would be fired if I'm the AD....Bruce's case by far being the worse but the others bring a negative light onto the school/athletic program.

My favorite line is every news story quoting Petrino's description of it as a "previous inappropriate relationship." LOL. "Previous" since when? The accident???

Petrino and Pearl lied to their bosses. Automatic firing.

I don't know if Pitino lied to his boss or not. If I remember correctly (while I hate cheaters) I believe his fling was a one time thing, and again, did not lie to his bosses. If he didn't, he would still be at L'Ville.
