Okay, this is my 500th post, so I wanted to make it a good one. So, here goes ...

We all know that our schedule this year is absolutely brutal, so I'm not going to restate the obvious. My son and I both have the fever as the season is approaching, so we were just talking football, you know how it is. So we got curious as to where we fell on other people's schedule. If you believe in trap games, you'll find this interesting, as we (a potentially dangerous team for most anybody) fall in some interesting places for a few teams.

Florida
9/20 @ Alabama
open
10/4 @ UT
10/11 LSU

South Carolina
10/25 @ Auburn
11/1 UT
open
11/15 @ Florida

Mississippi
10/11 @ A&M
10/18 UT
10/25 @ LSU

Alabama
10/18 A&M
10/25 @ UT
open
11/8 @ LSU

I said all that to say this: teams may have gotten used to looking at their schedule and chalking us up as an automatic "W." It seems possible to me, that, these teams have (what could be viewed as) big games before and after they play us. Wonder if we catch anybody looking behind or ahead? After all, it happens.

What think ye?

(Sorry for the long post and if this has already been discussed.)

I know what you're saying, but still it's big games against Auburn and Florida.

Yeah but we essentially knocked them out of the SEC Championship game. I'm pretty confident Spurrier isn't going to let them overlook us.

And I'm not sure how big that Florida game is going to be.

You're probably right about last year and Spurrier, but if SC beats UGA early in the year, and UF is back to form (they can't repeat last year, can they?) that game will probably be for the SEC East ... that is, unless we do surprise some folks!:)

Conner Shaw's eligibility extended? no

It sure doesn't hurt that Florida will be taking a trouncing before our guys play them. (I think having Florida later in the schedule like this is a good thing in general.)

Fully every team in the SEC has a trap game before they play every other SEC team, the SEC is full of good teams that can win on the road or at home on any Saturday,Kentucky excluded.

about the only one I think it really helps on is ole miss. the rest have bi's either before or after us, so i think that offsets any 'trap' advantage

I sure hope we trap some of them! I don't think USCjr will be a trap game after last year! Spurier will probably be prepping his team for us all season!

Interesting observation by the OP but I agree with the person that pointed out the bye weeks.

Plus I don't think Bama falls for traps. Saban generally keeps his guys focused. A trap game for them is winning by 21 instead of 35.

tennessee isn't a trap game for florida.

it's a job killer

Program breaker :dunno:

After your last season....we beat you...you're on Vandy & Kentucky's level of suck.

Just ask us.....nothing lasts forever.

Not to be a stickler. but it is usually spelled bye week. Having a bi in today's slang could, uh, mean something entirely different.

in the SEC it is a " on any given saturday " situation.....anybody can beat anybody.... dooley came within one play of beating LSU, kiffin did the same against bamma..and we know what a waste those two were...in the end a scoreboard never lies....they all can be trap games.
