To my knowledge the UT wrestling program ended after the 1986-1987season. The ending had nothing to do with high school wrestling in the state. U.T. had some very good wrestlers from the state on those teams. Opportunities and accolades were harder to come by in those days. Just a simple, quick example: Tn had one state tournament, all classifications, public and private, together. Now Tennessee has at least 3 divisions with 3 champions in each weight class.

I do not disagree with you on the sport growing in the state and doing well. AAU has helped, as well as more divisions and classifications.

Not Nixon..ya Goober...THAT is Famous '70s, '80s & '90s Character Actor John Schuck...BEST known for "McMillian & Wife"...MASH (the Movie) *he takes the "suicide pill" 'cause they didn't have little blue pills back then...St. Elsewhere, LA Law...etc.
