If you could be Barnes' Assistant Coach for a day

Just enjoy the win. The way it was won was off the charts lucky and we were due. Barnes made a mistake by not telling the ref he was going to call time out. Barnes yelled out to Mashack to get across the line and call time out. Mashack thought he said shoot after crossing the line. Barnes was frantically trying to call time out, the rest is history. Not a textbook finish but one of the best I can remember.
You missed my point. A lot of posters on this board are at one extreme or the other. We see it in football too. I most definitely will enjoy the win. And every win by UT in any sport.

Iā€™d sit with Chaz and have him watch hours of Vescovi working off ball to get open. Tell him if he worked 80 percent as hard to get open all year heā€™d probably the the top POY candidate right now.
I agree. Watching the game the other night, Dickie V even called out that Chaz is just standing there. He isnā€™t moving. A little more movement by Chaz and his crazy quick shot, would elevate his numbers even higher. IMO.

I've came to the conclusion that it either has to be a) he is tired from D and resting some on Offense ( that's a little understandable being his first year under Barnes) or b) he is just being a little lazy and wants a screen to spring him.

It could actually be A and B. At times like the end of the Bama game he probably is exhausted, but other times like in the beginning of games he could just be a bit lazy ( more so wanting to save energy).
Need to get him moving more the rest of the way. If he needs an extra blow or two to keep up on D than they may have to adjust for it.

I think it is clear Gainey is in better shape than last year so I don't want to be too hard on the guy for not being able to go 100% the whole game, but there are times he could definitely move more.

Yep. I've mentioned his lack of effort to get open a couple of times this year. It's very noticeable if you just watch him. I think he's just never really had to work that hard, nor has he ever been the focal point at the highest level. But he has to keep moving. His standing around gives his defender a break and then also takes him completely out of the play.

Gotta be honest. I'd challenge ZZ to start showing up in the 1st half. Hes gonna be invisible like that 1 game too many and it's going to cost us.
Yeah, he is going to have to get off to a fast start come tournament time.
I really think it wouldn't be a bad idea at all to start Gainey, so we could avoid some of these cold starts we've had.

I'd tell him to make every player who shoots less than 80% from the FT line to stay and shoot 200 more after every practice. FTs can be the difference between advancing and getting the boot come tourney time.
They already do that. There's certainly room for improvement, but 74% as a team is pretty damn good. That % is a reflection of the emphasis of practicing it. The untimely misses cause negative reaction. ZZ missing 4 in the middle of the 2nd half is an extreme anomaly. He did knock the bottom out of two inside 2 min
