You realize our kicker can kick it through the end zone but don’t want him to right? It’s a big part of why we beat Bama and LSU was not kicking it through the end zone

I’m assuming you’re referencing Barbara Eden. In which case, I choose a fourth option which has nothing to do with football. Sorry Vols-some things are more important that football. Just coach up Willie Martinez and get those recruits moving!

Why not kick it through the end zone and give them the 25. Without going back and analyzing the season, it feels like many of those kickoffs resulted in good field position (either by penalty or return). Granted, some returns resulted in <25. Just an impression I'm left with this season... no stats to back.

The short kick worked in some situations, most notably against LSU, I think we went to it a bit too much in the SC game hoping they would bobble the ball and give us a spark, when it works its great when it doesnt it puts you behind the 8 ball a bit too much for me.

I get that. My gut tells me we'd done better kicking the ball deep into the end zone. Just my worthless opinion. I'd love to see the season analysis of kickoffs. Would be interesting.

I think the majority of ones that were returned were less than the 25. I can’t recall many that resulted in bad field position
