If you live in Chicago - better start looking for a new home

A group of us back when we were youthful idjits were coming back from a ski weekend in NC and decided to take some "shortcut" heading back. While ravenously hungry we stopped in at what appeared to be not much more than concrete building fit for a car repair shop but it claimed itself as a restaurant so in we went. What was inside was apparently a coven of bored grandmothers who had their grandkids all grown up and were looking for people to spoil. We ate ourselves silly on a myriad of country style grubbage and were sitting around with something just short of a food induced coma when lead grandma came out and said "Any of you boys up for some fresh cobbler?". HELL YES! we all replied, ignoring any probable medical emergencies to ensue. It was fabulous.

Everybody there vividly remembers the experience to this day though none of us could come close to finding the place again.
That is some Twight Zone/Outer Limits type stuff right there.

My dad was retired military. A couple of times his assignments didn't include us, so we wound up at "home" going to a small county school. Two things stick out in my mind - the teachers were great because they were doing what they wanted to do, and probably all of them could have made more money elsewhere. Some had even taught the parents of kids in my classes. Where this was really going is the cafeteria - absolutely the best school meals you will find - better than a lot of restaurants. The ladies who worked there came mostly from farms, and they knew how to cook.

Went to the same kinda school. Several of my teachers taught my dad and my grandmother taught a few of my teachers. The county didn't have a county wide sourcing so it was up to the cafeteria manager to buy the food and do the menu. Food was fantastic.

The overwhelming majority of murders happened in just a few neighborhoods on the southside. Stay out of those and you'll be fine. Oh and don't join a gang.
Don't take the wrong exit off 80-90. You end up in places where you have to explain what a prostitute is and what those guys are selling each other.

Sounds like a place my dad took me once in Valle Crucis.

Reminds me of the Yankees game I never made it to. Couple months after I moved to NJ in 1988 and was still single I asked a lady to go see a Yankees game but I made a wrong turn and ended up in Harlem and then my car vaporlocked. This was my old pride and joy, the 911T I had just rebuilt the year before. Surrounded by street dudes “Hey man, what’s up with yo fancy wheels” and so forth, and this went on for over an hour, as I would crank it every few minutes hoping to not drain the batteries (2) before it cooled down enough to start again. Luckily it finally did start, and we turned around and hightailed it straight back to NJ. Needless to say, that lady never went out with me again. Lol.

That's the real point. It's not the color of ones skin or any other physical attribute that really defines a person, it's the customs and culture. Point out how that defines people of different races, ethnicities, or country of origin and you are a racist. That's why change has to come from within, and the community has to accept that change is required, yet BLM is an issue supported by a lot of our population with no regard to the underlying problems. When people go around killing their own for fun or to prove their acceptance of the thug life - and the community accepts it, it's really hard to put the blame elsewhere. And like probably most everyone here, I'm not willing to accept that way of life as the norm.

...and of course, our resident Kingracist was here to immediately chime in and call YOU a racist for stating straight facts. Right on cue.

Glorified images of pimps,, drug dealers, etc and the culture that glorifies them are the real freaking problem...and the government punishing poor moms for getting married and thereby incentivizing "single moms," has created an epidemic of fatherless homes of all races for which the outcomes are well documented...6 times as likely to use drugs, 8 times as likely to commit suicide, 10 times as likely to go to prison ...while this affliction is not at all strictly a black issue, the damning stat that racists like King will never acknowledge tells the tale:
The number 1 cause of death for black males aged 16 to 35 (,huge section) is OTHER black males. That is a FACT not an opinion and it speaks volumes...and makes the youth protesting cops killing blacks at a rate of .0028% of interactions an ignorant exercise. For some reason, the racists like King never care about the real threats or the many lives lost to them....

It's a lack of fathers. Until you folks get serious and address the real issue and end this welfare and no fault divorce and misandric laws that push men out of the homes and subsidize single mothers, then this nonsense will not only continue, but become a problem in the white community...

...or is it too late already.

It is already rampant among white folks too...poverty doesn't discriminate....nor does the desperation that comes from it. So many kids these days are raised without dads it is ridiculous. The justice system is overwhelmed with youth offenders. Many of which end up charged with felonies, making it extremely hard for them to get a decent job...and the cycle of desperation continues.

We have to be honest and direct about what is REALLY causing so many problems and do something about it... and that never happens because it would be career suicide for any politician to point out the truth. As communities, it is up to us to make the necessary changes...which again never happens so far because the solutions would require personal responsibility and financial sacrifice.. whicj nearly nobody is willing to do.

Dan Quayle warned about the importance of fathers in the home 30 years ago, and was vilified by liberals.

I have been saying for a long time, cops should pull out of certain areas and let the people there do whatever they want. Sell drugs, kill, rape, beat each other doesn't matter do whatever you want.
Damn shame this piece of crap regime's first reaction is to always blame the cops. 1 week left thank god.
That started happening at least a decade ago in some of this nation's biggest cities. In some, it has been longer than that
