Missed the Vol walk.....booooo

But we did make it to the game. Lots of people left at half and about 8 minutes into the third.

Charlie Daniels was awesome!

I think the loudness of the fans helped on that last drive! I was screaming so loud and long I got light headed! I was at the WKU game as well and it never got that loud. There were maybe 50,000 there by that last drive.

The high school bands that got to March at halftime with TPOTSLB were amazing!

The sun was torture in the second half too! Would like to see some covers over the upper decks on that side and a small jumbotron on the other side.

Thanks

Jim

Gameday at UT is special. The product on the field was subpar. The pregame festivities and activities was outstanding. I took my 9 year old grandson today. He had a blast. He loved the Vol Walk, the band and the activities in Volunteer Village. He clapped, screamed, excited the Vols won the game.

I think we somtimes forget how special it is to go to a game at Neyland. Take a kid and let them enjoy the atmosphere of TN football. I wasn't pleased with the play on the feel but I left the game today realizing how great it is to be a TN Vol.

Go Big Orange.

I wasn't at the game, but what I saw on TV was freakin embarrassing. The damn stadium was half empty after halftime. Morons missed the most active part of the game.

We've got to get these people who are concerned about beating traffic out of the damn stadium and fill it up with people ready to scream their lungs out for a 60 minute football game.

I could ALMOST understand it if we are getting blown out but if we are winning? Really? Hell, I would want to stay the whole game if we're winning.

This is spot on my biggest complaint about Tennessee fans. They are the worst in college football about leaving a game early, win or lose. I could ALMOST understand it if we are getting blown out but if we are winning? Really? smh:jpshakehead:

How often do you go to games and try to get out Knoxville afterwards? My husband and I stay til the clock hits 0:00. But my dad doesn't. He won't sit in the traffic. But he has paid for his season tickets every year since 1971 so I'm gonna give him a pass.

You're damn right I will volleybrat! Some of us don't live close enough to Knoxville to make as many games as we wished we could. I'll be there for homecoming with a large group and you can be sure, no matter what happens in the game, our asses will be in the stadium until the game is over.

Before you get smart you might want to know what the hell you're talking about. If I'm special it's because I know how freakin bad that looks to our players and recruits. Moron girl. :finger3:

Wow... just Wow!:ermm: Not to change the subject...but to change the subject...one of the lighter moments at the game was during a video they played showing our players holding pictures of Military servicemen as they honored those who have served in the military. The fans started chanting U-S-A, U-S-A!!! Then when the So. Alabama (USA) players raised their arms to get us to chant louder, you could sense the realization that we were cheering for the rival team and you heard a lot of embarrassed laughter:unsure:
oh.. and the Charlie Daniels video was awesome as well! He's always been one of our biggest fans-- and he has mad fiddlin' skills for sure.. Hope he comes in to Knoxville next week when we play UGA and plays "Devil went Down to Georgia"

The sun was absolutely merciless! I had on sunscreen and still fried--- my contact lenses practically melted into my eyes. that being said... I still stayed til the final seconds. I've been to games where a game can change in the final seconds--- like when Georgia drove down the field in 44 seconds and scored for the win when we thought we had it in the bag... and on the flip side when the crowd would leave early in droves thinking that we had lost the game and there was a miraculous comeback.

That would stink to hear the roar of the crowd and be unable to get back into the game to see what had happened.

But I am fortunate to live in Knoxville and not have a long drive home so I can understand the other point of view.

1. What was the deal with the Vol Walk? It didn't look like there was room for the team to even walk through? I haven't seen them do that before.

2. Did you notice Riyahd Jones during warm ups? Just walking the sidelines (like doing laps). (We saw him walking into the stadium and couldn't tell who the two players were he was with, but one was on crutches.) I thought he might've played today but he didn't, did he?

3. The Charlie Daniels' video was pretty damn cool.

4. Loved the people in front of the DJ taking pics of CPS. I wasn't sure why they all turned around and started screaming and taking pics. Then they showed her on the Voltron. There's more than one recruit watching it all happen.

About the Vol walk - are you talking about on Phillip Fulmer Way? I think for all home games this year they haven't been moving the barricades out in the street for the fans to stand behind, or at least on the east side. They just let the fans move into the street but stand on the yellow center line.
Another comment about the crowd. I could not believe how quite the crowd was when the game first started. I swear I thought everybody, team included, was still asleep.

most cant make the games freak

And maybe some can't stay the whole time. I know many people can't make it to the games and I understand that, but unless you are one who is in your seat watching the clock hit zero every week, I'm just now sure how you can criticize those who do show up. It's easy to say what you might do if you lived closer.

I just disagree with that line of thinking. :hi:

Did anyone notice that the stadium was the loudest during the last defensive stand when the stadium was half empty?

Yep, I was thinking what it would be if that was GA and we were about trying to win in the last minutes.

I also agree that the Charlie Daniels band was great..

You can't really criticize when you are at home on your couch. I was there and I stayed till the end. At the end, we may have been half capacity but it was LOUD, no doubt about it.

Thank you! I debated whether to start with the mention of that video, or end with it. And I ended up leaving it out all together. My step-son is in the Army. I know we have multiple posters here who have, or currently are, serving.

That was one of my favorite moments of the entire day. Followed by having the military members in attendance at the game stand, so we could applaud them.

1. People were lining both sidewalks as usual, and then when the team came down towards the entrance of Neyland, the sidewalks rushed the street and left a little gap for the team to walk down through. I have been to many games at Neyland and never saw that. Although, I will also say the Vol Walk seemed dead, it wasn't as electric as usual, big or small game.

2. I don't recall seeing Riyahd out there, but I did see the weird warm up laps and just ignored it.

You're so right. That's why I'm eternally grateful for having a friend who lets me stay at his guesthouse barely 3 miles away when we go to games. Even then, we kill time until traffic dies down. We walk to either the Market Square for a meal cause our car is free parked at the garage there. Or down to the river for the same. Then walk to the car and drive to the guesthouse. We still endure traffic but nowhere near what people who have to hit the freeway deal with. Plus our route out is almost but not quite a straight line to to where we're going.
