Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt and offensive line coach Will Friend checked in (in home) with 2020 Vols commit Javontez Spraggins Monday. “They were here for a few hours and might have even overstayed their welcome,” Spraggins laughed. “Spending all that time with me, it really makes me realize how much they value recruiting and the guys they want to bring in.” “I’m still solid in my commitment to Tennessee,” Spraggins said. “I might even be more solid than I was before.” The 6-foot-3, 300-pound offensive lineman said he’ll be back on Rocky Top this weekend for an official visit and has enjoyed the time with Tennessee coaches here recently. “Having them here tonight was nice because it gave them a chance to meet my mom and dad. Coach Friend was even here last week,” Spraggins said. “Mom cooked a good meal. We chatted about football, of course, and made my plans for this weekend.

“I’m really excited. It’ll give me an opportunity to meet some of the other commits and recruits.” “They both told me right off the bat that I’d have a chance to start,” the three-star said. “Really it’s just wherever they like me at the most, but they really like me at guard right now.” Spraggins is also encouraged by the way the team finished the season becoming bowl eligible following the 1-4 start. “I really appreciate the way they fought back and didn’t hang their heads after the early losses,” Spraggins said. “They kept fighting. They made adjustments and it really helped their season out in the long run.” Tennessee reeled in its 18th commit for the class of 2020 Monday in four-star defensive tackle Omari Thomas. As the class continues to grow in size and star power, the current commit said it’s exciting for the future Volunteers. “That just fuels me up,” Spraggins said of the Thomas announcement. “It just shows how good we can be and turn out. It gives us perspective and gives me a chance to start building a new relationship. “It’s good to get these types of guys.”
