‘23 IL WR Carnell Tate (Ohio State commit)

CBs rolling in for Ohio State. Not a good sign.
Could be set up for shock the world, but that would be some really good faith put out by analysts if they picked Ohio state and put that on their CB record knowing otherwise. Also possible all the Nico and Tennessee build up was just hype to pick osu. Hope that’s not the case and we get good news here. At this point just make it happen, no further reason to drag it out with everyone thoroughly confused. Guess either way Tate got what he wanted. Dramaaaaa
There are only 2 CBs for him to OSU and the most recent one is 3 months old.

If AP knew he wasn’t coming here he would let us know. He likes to let us down easy but if he’s coming or unsure and the kid wants a moment he’ll be silent
Really think neither side knows for sure but he’s given both teams some reasons for optimism. I think some are just guessing Ohio State bc most of the time in the past these recruitments go their way.

What CBs? There’s been nothing new on 247 at all except for pure speculation on Wiltfongs take
Ah sh!t. Those are from 2021. Was referencing the picture someone just posted. Assumed those were recent, kinda misleading. I shoulda looked closer. My b. Thanks for pointing out.

RC said anyone calling this anything more than a toss-up is crazy. Both sides feel good, OSU feeling better recently. Then added this:

One thing maybe worth noting, just for some perspective, if nothing else: Tate talked about making an early decision at least a couple times before — one of them was back in the fall, and I think the other was maybe around last summer — but as the date approached, he ended up sort of backing off those plans and obviously continued looking around.

I don't think he has come this close to announcing a decision before, though, so this one seems more real and is much more likely to come to fruition. And just to be clear, nobody has told me they think Tate isn't actually getting close to announcing a commitment. The consensus still seems to be that he's likely to make a decision fairly soon. But since we don't have a specific commitment date yet and someone mentioned the possible timeline for his decision, I just wanted to pass along that detail about Tate's recruitment to this point. Most of that stuff happened before Tennessee emerged as one of the top teams in the running for him, but he has talked about making a decision at least a couple times before only to reconsider and keep things open.

And the fact that he's basically focusing on two schools makes me think he's more likely to follow through on committing this time around. He already has gotten to look into other programs like Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and LSU in addition to the two longtime contenders, Ohio State and Notre Dame, so there aren't many other programs that could enter the picture and shake things up at this point. He has been recruited for a long time. He has gone on a bunch of visits. He has a good feel for what he wants by now.

It's definitely worth noting that he still has three official visits remaining, so anything is possible. But he plans to be an early enrollee, so I think he wants to be done this summer and know where he's going ahead of his senior season, and I don't think he's currently planning to continue looking around once he announces his decision.

At the end of the day, though, you're dealing with teenagers and you never know how things might change with other teams. It's always possible that some team could circle back to Tate and make an even bigger push for him after missing out on another receiver, and who knows how things could change this season based on how teams do on the field? You just never say never with things like that, especially in the NIL world we're in now.

That language is consistent with what I've seen from OSU posters on their board - Tate likes to toy w/social media.

I’ve said for weeks that I think Tennessee is in good shape, and I would lean toward the Vols right now.

Callahan-----MAY 14TH calm down 🙃

So I think this thing was over back on May 14th...To keep it short he showed up unexpectedly with his Mom to get some 1 on q time with just Heupel. We all saw the pics of him at the game and this place was buzzing.Callahan Trieu and a bunch of others came out and alll but said he was the Vols to lose.I think he silently committed (Or we put ourselves firmly in the lead)at that time cause he wasn't going to make it for memorial day.I think alot of the peices add up.

You take all the crazy talk the last couple weeks from Ohio state etc etc. Also idk who this Kelly guy is but he put his crystal ball in for Tate on 5/14 and he's 20/20 at 100 % and covers Notre Dame and Ohio State football. No I didn't research Kelly or anything and don't care about the recent Ohio state crystal ball. This is just for fun on lunch basically.I don't think Tate likes the recruiting game like some but wants his moment..Then u got people getting ancy for no reason acting crazy u know fans.So i think he just wanted to add a little suspense and get this thing finished.Did things change I don't know I just know that weekend always stuck out to me for some reason.
