Although they are not ranked, they could be undeated with a last second shot against Kansas and a close loss to a good UMass team. Our games against Memphis and Kansas around the corner, similiar to NCAA tourney IMO. How we fare will represent our future. How we perform in the SEC for some reason fails to dictate our NCAA play.

IDK, I'm a huge UT and Memphis fan as I live and graduated from Memphis but, grew up and still do follow all things Vol. Memphis fell to a pretty garbage team in UMASS. Seems both teams have followed a similar path this year in blowing out lesser opponents but, falling short when any form of quality opponent steps up. Memphis is much better than they were expected to be this year and if you asked me before the season started who would win this game I would unequivocally have said UT but, after that blow out loss to USC, I just cannot call this one now. It will be one heck of a game though and I am looking forward to watching it on the edge of my seat.

I see them struggling against Memphis and go ahead and write off Kansas. They probably lose both.

Memphis did only lose because the ball got stripped right to a UMass player underneath the basket with a second left. UMass may be garbage but so was USC, and Memphis will not be an easy one to take.

We beat them at Fedex two years ago. I thought that translated into a victory this year. At least that's what some seem to think.

If Tennessee comes out as flat Thursday as they did in Los Angeles, there's no hope for them.

This game is a virtual tossup, imo. Tennessee will have to experience a road-to-damascus turnaround comparable to what Crompton did this year, to have any real shot at a meaningful presence in the tournament. If current performance continues, and IF we make the tourney, we are a ripe candidate for a 2nd rnd. exit.

Boy the loss to USC really killed the excitement around here, nobody is even talking about this game. I guess the big question is did Bruce make some adjustments over the break or has a just kicked his legs up and enjoyed the break, I am guessing the second option. I think the only way we win this game is to hit alot of threes, because I know we will not use our advantage inside.

It seems like every thread on the bball forum nowadays is immensely negative. And I can't argue with that. With the way we're playing right now, it just seems like we have no heart and no drive to win. Sure we can sleepwalk against less talented teams like NCAT but when it comes to playing a team with any amount of decent talent, we look awful. I think the Memphis game will be a disaster if we play like we did against USC.

Pearls teams are hard to get a bead on sometimes, they can play up or down to their opponents quite often. They haven't played a serious contender to this point but still managed a loss to USC and looked terrible. If they only play half as bad as they did against USC they still get beat by Memphis. This game will tell us a lot going forward.

Pearl has irritated me to no end this year, he either cannot or will not reign his players back in when they start throwing the kitchen sink from behind the arc. If this doesn't change sooner rather than later he will have lost whatever control he has over this team. Time for him to stop being their friend and coach, JMO.

I agree 100%. This teams has a lot to figure out, but nobody to help them figure anything out.

Take down all the breakables brother. They've frustrated me almost every game so far. Minus UNCA

They looked as bad against UNCA as USC. The difference was talent. Wasn't a pretty or fundamental 90+ points.

Actually, they lost because they got outrebounded by 20 and lacked any kind of hustle. Stephens getting stripped was only the icing on the cake.

The Forum will be rocking. Bank on that.
No doubt.

Wrong. 40+ points in paint and +20 rebound margin by UMass beat the Tigers.

Tigers will play hard, but you can't expect them to consistently win against Top 20 teams when they have no post presence and only 8 scholarship players. Of those 8, only 4 are true ballers.

Help is on the way in the next 2 years.

UMass wanted the win bad enough to win by one point.

Both Memphis and Tenn will want this win, and I will be surprised if it does not come down to a close finish regardless of what the coaches say or do. As we have seen over the last few years, playing at home is not much of an advantage when the Tigers and Vols play. I expect a great game and will be there to watch. I am pulling for my Tigers, but I think the Vols will do better than some of you expect.

Let's see. 14-0 and #3 in Nation. He has gone from casting his spell and enchanting an entire city to enchanting an entire state and major network. Yea, I'd say he is still the king.

and has put his last 2 schools on probabtion, he is the greatest. I can't wait till he does this to Kensucky, maybe it will be alot worse for them.

Geez Memphis fans. So gracious.

Yeah the rebounding margin and points the paint were so staggering that it took a miracle in order for UMass to win.

Wow. such class

Memphis had the talent edge over UMass (just as UT will have the edge tomorrow). Rebounding was the difference. UMass played a hell of a game and deserves all the credit. How is that "classless" or not "gracious"? :ermm:
