Good game so far.

Mizzou looked to be dominating overall, but Chase just threw a pick 6 to a DE.

Illinois up 13-10

MO D absolutely says they have no business anywhere near the top 10.

I guess this is as good a post as any to introduce myself to everyone, I am a Mizzou fan, living in St. Louis, but at a young age adopted the Vols as my "other" team, probably because the Tigers in the late eighties and for most of the nineties sucked! LOL I just recently found VolNation and have been lurking for a bit, and was pleasantly surprised to find a Mizzou thread!

We are reasonably pleased with the result of the game last night, if not a little concerned with the DB play. The gameplan all along was to force Juice to throw, and while it worked for the most part in the first half, he DID obviously start making plays as the game went on. I really put the blame on the coaches not adjusting their defensive gameplan to adjust to what the Illini O was doing; I just think everyone was shocked that Juice had actually improved his throwing. Our D was shaky at the start of last year too, and gelled quite nicely as the season went on, so hopefully that will happen this year as well...we shall see. At any rate, as weak as the Big T-eleven is, I truly believe the Illini squad will compete for their championship, and will probably get destroyed in the Rose Bowl again :D

As far as MU vs. UT this year, well...I will be political and say it is just a shame that the two schools have never been able to come together to set up a series in football...we have played just about every other major school that borders Missouri, and I have ALWAYS wanted to see an MU/UT matchup (although admittedly the Vols would have probably murdered the Tigers until here recently). We played in the Grove last year and it was a heck of a trip, and there had been rumors of Georgia being interested in a series with us the last couple of years...so maybe there is hope yet!

I wasn't disagreeing with you chuckles. But our d thus year will be far better than theirs.

That may very well be, but ours is more unproven than theirs. So Vandy might not be the best defense to compare Mizzou to.

You mean Vandy's D that is higher rated by the experts than ours?
you might consider removing your head from your 4th point of contact. Mizzou's defense just gave up 42 points to an offense without a running game. They also benefitted from a weak ass schedule last year and are going to do the same this year. Against the decent competition in the Big 12, they will show some true colors and have their asses handed to them on platters.

Just for kicks, I simmed UT vs Mizzou on NCAA 09, Mizzou won 38-21. They will beat Texas this year. Book it.
