Hi everyone. I'm ok. I never lost power. I'm on the hospital "grid" in Baton Rouge. VERY fortunate. Everyone I know and all of my family are fine. Some are without power or fones, but we are all safe. Thank you for your concern and prayers. A very close friend of mine is from Metairie, the town between New Orleans proper and the airport. Her father has lived in his house for more than 55 years - he is close to 80. He didn't come with everyone else, and since the levee breached today he has rising water. My friend and her mother had to call LA State Police to rescue him. NEVER in ANY flood in N.O. have they gotten water to the porch, much less the house. They are on a ridge of high ground near Metairie Road and the RR track. It's really really bad. Please pray for U-T and his family's safety. They did not evacuate. I am sure that their home is under several feet of water. La.LovesOrange lives in Slidell. I hope she doesnt mind me saying that. From all I hear it is a wasteland. It's on the edge of Lake Pontchartrain. The brides and I-10 East near Jazzland in N.O. are destroyed by the storm surge. It is really really awful. I am sure that she evacuated. They need our prayers.
Not only are the streets of N.O. flooded, but there was 4-6ft of water in Jackson Square this morning, water rushing so fast thru the streets that there were whitecaps. The water system in N.O. is gone, cannot flush toilets, NOTHING. There are alligators coming out of the canals and a 3ft shark was spotted swimming. He was probably pushed in thru the Lake Pontchartrain into the streets. It is very very dangerous. There are people in their attics to keep from drowning and it is a swelteringly hot day here. Please please pray for everyone.
Do you remember last year how mad all the people were in Tampa that had to evacuate for nothing when Hurricane Charly turned at the last minute into Punta Gorda area? YES! It is a terrible inconvenience, but this is why the emergency officials do it.
I have been hearing the helicopters fly over my house to the 2 big hospitals all day with emergency evacuees. They were unable to get all patients out of the city in time. Now they have to.
All of our shelters are full, and they are telling people that you CANNOT go home, don't leave your shelter because there are others waiting to
take your place. Some of the physical therapy offices are offering beds from 6pm til 7am when they reopen and on weekends so that people have a place to sleep.
Please pray for everyone, and if you would like to help you can do 2 things.
1. donate to the RED CROSS... (no one else please)
2. donate blood if you can.
Thanks all! Please keep praying for the victims, and the poor state of Mississippi.
