Antonio Barton already out their grinding with them in Pratt, I love it.

I think you've got a lot of guys coming together with a sense of this is my final go, let's make it big.

Maymon got a 5th hear of eligibility and is looking to make the most of it, he knows this is his final chance.

McRae is a senior and has his eyes on a much bigger finish than what he's been a part of so far. Last go around for him as well so he has that sense of urgency.

Stokes wants to go pro. He knows nothing will increase his draft stock much more than this team having one hell of a year. He knows by playing his best ball, and helping this team it'll also help his draft stock.

And then finally you have Barton...he has put in his time at Memphis and felt he never got a fair shake. He felt he deserved more minutes, he felt he was better than Joe Jackson, and he felt he should be the starting PG...now in his final year of eligibility he has the chance to prove that. What better way than to lead his former teams rival to a great season and deep into the tournament.

Like I said I just feel there's a great blend of guys who are gonna play like its their last chance, because it is, and give it their all. Maybe I'm wearing my orange glasses, but I just feel like while many others are out partying, this group will be in Pratt pavilion working towards their goal.

What is this garbage? Who told you that?

I just hope AB can get some of his competitiveness to rub off. Golden is now gone, and I think UT could really benefit from another senior leader (to go along with Maymon). I like McRae, but I'm not sure he's a take-the-lead type of presence.

I'm an AB fan and I'm glad to see that he's finally going to be able to run a team. He was always fairly consistent for us, and that's what UT's squad could really use.

Also, which group of players do you foresee being the "partiers"?

Maymon, Stokes, Barton, Hubbs, Mcrae.. Each of them can drop twenty plus a night.

This question gets repeated on almost every thread. Maymon is near 100%, he's tweeted about, Coach has tweeted about it and recently Jimmy Dykes even tweeted about him being close to 100%.

For clarification my wording on 5th year may be misleading, everyone is allowed 5 years...not many use all 5.


As for Maymon being 100%, Martin said if there was a game tomorrow Maymon would play...so take that as you will.

I'm really looking forward to this coming year of mens and womens basketball,I have a lot of high hopes for both,I hope the men make it to the sweet 16,and the elite 8 for the womens and maybe higher for the Lady Vols

of course there's a lot of basketball to be played and injures to deal with and see if both coaches step up there game management from last year


here is to hoping for both teams to have a great year and avoid the injury bug

Look MC, your schtick has gotten old. You try to hijack every thread with Memphis talk, or by degrading Tennessee players/recruits. This thread is CLEARLY about the optimism and sunshine pumping of the Tennessee season, there's truly no reason for you to be in it.

So for everyone's sake, I'm not gonna respond to your post any further than this. I don't put posters on ignore, and I won't do any different with you, I just hope at some point you post something worth responding to :hi:

Hey bud, I'd just like to know who you heard that from, cause is definitely wasn't Antonio. I thought you'd have more respect for a Vol player than to attribute statements to them that they never made. Pretty poor treatment of AB right off the bat.

But who are the players that worry you with their partying? That statement stuck out to me.

It may have been from Antonio, or from someone he told...you have no idea who told me he felt that way.

I never specifically said Tennessee...maybe while Marshall Henderson is out snorting coke our guys will be in Pratt Pavilion getting better.

Shameful. Why not just welcome Antonio onto your team without making up stuff about his time at Memphis. He and his brother loved Memphis. He's a good kid and probably wouldn't appreciate you saying stuff like that about him.

If you're going to try to market yourself as a "recruiting insider guy", you're going to need credibility with players and recruits. Making up stuff like this to try and gig Barton's old squad may alienate you from the players you're trying to get close to.

There could be a thread about the color of the sky and I guarantee you that MC would say "Hey the sky is blue...but guess what else is blue...Memphis." If we cared about Memphis we would go to their lame website and find it out man. No need to ruin our high with your tiger high sh!t...now lets get back to some sunshine pumping :)

I'd just hope you'd treat your new Vol with a little more respect. He was a hell of a Tiger, and he'll be an awesome player in orange. He really is a genuinely awesome kid; he played his tail off in Memphis and harbors no ill-feelings for his time as a Tiger, and he deserves better from you. There's no need to put words in his mouth just to take an underhanded swipe at Memphis. You can do that without putting making stuff up.
