I'm Surprised, Vick Named Starter

He has paid his debt to society and a high one at that. Not sure why you think people dont deserve a second chance. I am a huge dog lover and have three who are basically our children. What he did was awful but, like I said, he has paid his debt, has he not?

has he paid back the owners of the dogs he and his friends stole and used as bait/training dummies for his fighters?

Honestly, I do think that's why you're defending him.

Just because you go to jail doesn't mean you should have the luxury of getting your old job back with the NFL.

Mary Kay Laterno(sp?) didn't get to return to teaching.

Arrested drug dealers don't get to go be pharmacists.

Michael Vick shouldn't get to go play football.

That's my opinion and nothing will change it. The guy is a p.o.s.

There is certainly a precedent that says otherwise

Yeah, double standards. It's amazing what money does. Michael Vick served far less time than someone who can't afford good lawyers. The NFL allows him to return because of the ratings and teams will sign him because he can win games.

Do you really think if he was working some crap job as a cashier that his lawyer would get him so little time? Do you think they'd hire him back?

Tons of places would deny him being a cashier just because of his criminal record.

The NFL and Eagles don't care because he can run around and throw a football.

Anyways... I'll just leave it alone now. We could argue all day about this. :p

You cannot win consistently in the NFL if your QB is not an accurate passer. Vick isn't accurate enough. It's pretty much just that simple. The whole reason the Falcons hired that jackhole Bobby Petrino was a desperate attempt to find somebody who could figure out how to use Vick, because he just can't quite pass well enough to play QB in the pros. Maybe he spent 12 hours a day in prison throwing a football through a tire and things will be different now, but otherwise this is going to end in disappointment for the Eagles.

It's official, I'm sick of Philly's quarterback situation. This is the most overhyped story in football history.

I've always like him so I'm glad he's starting again. I also think that the guy got way too much time in jail for what he did. JMO though.

At least the eggles have signed their death warrant as a sb contender as long as Vick is starting.

I hope Vick takes the Eagles to the playoffs just to shut up all of these dog loving psychopaths that think Vick should have gotten the death penalty.

And yes this comes from a Falcons fan.

He served his time for the crime, his slate is clean. Animal control kills thousands of dogs a day and nobody cares.

Animal control doesn't torture them first. Let's not start this bull again.

I don't give a rip about dogs that aren't mine...so it really doesnt matter.

You are right. He should have gotten life in prison.

Where are all the Vick haters?

Every team with a horrible quarterback should feel really stupid right now.
