When I first bought an HDTV, Planet Earth was the most impressive show on television. I don't buy DVDs/BluRays any more but that one is on my wish list.

Meh.

Curb is on hiatus for years in between seasons, but it's by FAR the best one on that list. Arrested Development had the best season (2) but season 3 was somewhat weak and the new ones feel like a completely different show--and why is Seth Rogan and Kristen Wigg on there??

Heard good things about Workaholics just haven't watched.

Also...there's a huge difference between a network sitcom and something HBO does.

Not in my opinion. Cranston's performance is masterful...he's genuinely scary as White when he dons the black pork pie hat.

I can see that. When Walter becomes Heisenberg, he is a bad man.

If you've seen one House episode you've seen them all. Not a great show, IMO.

Then you just don't like shows like CSI, E.R. etc. because they all have the same premise. House is one of the best individual characters in TV history.

Walter White, Tony Soprano, House, Raylan Givens and Boyd Crowder, Gil Grisham. not a very big list of truly great and memorable tv characters in recent years.

(comedies get Sheldon Cooper, Wilfred, Cartman, etc)

You're right. I don't like those shows. I agree that House is a cool character. I loved the show for like 6 episodes and was suddenly bored with it because each episode follows an almost identical framework.

If anyone's seen Entourage Ari Gold is probably my favorite character of all time

Yeah, some people don't like the modified "monster of the week" premise of shows like that. I liked it because of the characters and how they interacted. I viewed it like a modern day medical Hamlet. One asanine character who knows he's that way, but is that way for a reason in order to figure others out. And, ironically, peole die as a result in both instances.

I think sorting by MOVIEmeter gives a more accurate list. It uses algorithms based on what people look at the most on their website instead of number of votes/rating given. The top 10 would then look like this:

1. Game of Thrones
2. Breaking Bad
3.True Blood
4.Hannibal
5.Dexter
6.Big Bang Theory
7.The Walking Dead
8.Revolution
9.Mad Men
10.How I Met Your Mother

Although top 10 lists like these are pointless because almost eveyone is going to have a different list. For instance 6 of those wouldn't be in my top 10.

Mad Men too low IMO.

Just started Breaking Bad and wow is all I can say...previously it went

1. The Walking Dead
2. Prison Break
3. Weeds

As my top 3. BB takes number 1 for my favorite now for sure. I haven't watched too many series as you can tell. I'm wondering what to watch on Netflix after BB...I'm thinking about giving Sons of Anarchy and Orange is the new Black a try. Any other suggestions??
