Just curious. What does this do for our current recruiting class? I would assume it would have a huge impact. You can tell these guys you will be playing in the largest college football game in history your junior year. Thoughts?

Meh. If that's why a recruit wants to come, I'd be surprised. There are many more important reasons to play for UT.

Really dude??? Waaaaaaaaa! If that's why he wants to come to UT then we don't need him....blah blah blah blah. What a joke. He asked if it would help recruiting. If you don't think playing in the biggest arena of college football broadcast everywhere isn't going to help recruiting, you...well you know what, I can't even respond to you.

What he is saying is there should be more important factors in a kid's decision than just this. I think it's one of those things that pushs a recruit on the fence our way and put a couple more on the fence for us because of it that would've been heavy leans to other schools. It certainly doesn't hurt.

I wouldnt think many of the kids would care about an event 2 years away. When I was 18 2 years seemed like a lifetime. If the team in good in 2016 the game itself I would think might have more of an impact.

Not only could it be a tipping point, it will also get kids to look UT's way in the first place. Getting a foot in the door can be a huge advantage.

We built a 200 million dollar practice facility and still got out-recruited by Vanderbilt.

I don't think Butch is that inept, but I think the talent of the recruiters and the performance of the team on the field will have a much bigger impact than anything else.

I say bus the recruits to Bristol, let them stand in the pits. They will envision the rest.

Right man for the job disagrees with you...

“Butch was immediately on board,” Hart said. “His first response was, ‘Man, that would be unbelievable for recruiting, Dave, if we can get that done.’ He’s on board. We’re trying to get into markets and venues that are important to us from a recruiting perspective.”

I agree. It's a nice little perk to mention to recruits, but if you're a student who's going to decide on your entire college experience based on one football game, you're missing the bigger picture in life.

From VA to Bama, NASCAR is still a popular spectator sport. Lately, more Hispanics and Blacks have been fans too (Brad Daugherty) or maybe they have been fans all along and marketing just discovered them. Juan Pablo Montoya, Danica Patrick and Ryan Gifford are broadening NASCAR fan base.

I have always dreamed of going to Bristal, as I think the night race there is incredible. Getting a chance to play there would be incredible, better than Rose Bowl IMO.

Yes but when that is not there at the moment seeing a future of the program gaining momentum and traction will help you recruit. I believe this will help a little.

A agree with you that there are many more great reasons to play for UT, but to tell these kids with egos the size of Bristol Motor Speedway that they can tell their friends, family, and their children that they played in the largest attended football game of all time I think is a pretty good sell. I'm in no way saying this is THE reason they would sign but a pretty good conversation starter.
