Pearls 3rd year without any second thoughts.

PG: Ramar Smith
SG: Chris Lofton
SF: Jajuan Smith
PF: Tyler Smith
C: Wayne Chism

6th: JP Prince
7th: Duke Crews
8th: Jordan Howell

Yea hard to argue with you there, that team was ridiculous when you look at it. That kind of goes with that I'm saying though, I mean that team went 28-3 in the regular season, and made the sweet 16. Tough draw in Louisville, but once you get that deep its all about matchups, definitely a final 4 caliber team IMO.

I loved that team. Hopefully we will be that loaded soon.

If Maymon opts to Europe:

PG: Golden Landry
SG: Hubbs McRae Moore
SF: Richie Edwards Chievous Reese
F: Stokes Davis
C: Yemi

Going to need attrition at the SF and serious Spring JUCO recruiting of the Forward position.

Your right. If we miss the tournament by some chance, we'd be the most slept on team in America going into next season. I'd LOVE it because we'd ring plenty of heads with this team.

Is this a re-post of comments from this summer about this season? There was plenty of expectations of "shocking the world" and "being ranked going into conference play", and other such silliness in retrospect.

Uhm what's silly about someone saying "ranked going into conference play"?

We win these next 3 (all games we are favored in) and we will likely be ranked heading into conference play.

So what is so humorous about that statement?

**also...those statements were made when everyone thought Maymon would be playing the entire season, not missing the whole season. I'd have to think many posters would adjust their expectations if they knew Maymon was going to be out for the season. In fact, I think I even said when the reports order surfaced that I'd adjust me prediction to a 18-20 win team, and hopefully sneaking into the tourney.**

I don't think it would be fair to hold onto the same expectations in the preseason to now or even next season. With Maymon, we are a 1 loss team ranked inside the top 15. If we have that team stated above next year, we'll win the SEC and rival the success of the Elite 8 team. Too many unknown factors going into next season but we'd be tons better than the last 3 or so years.

What is silly about that? That's completely reasonable when you're planning on having Maymon.

You should really give things time to develop before throwing everything in the crapper. Hell, we STILL have a shot at being ranked before conference play!

Less talking, more thinking.

That was before we knew we weren't going to have our best player..

And if Maymon returns, which seems much more likely....

PG: Golden/Landry
SG: Hubbs/Moore
SF: Richardson/McRae/Edwards
F: Maymon/Davis
F: Stokes/ Yemi

We're just fine, and then some.

no official word but the rumor is he will not return this season. He has his red-shirt year left but there is some debate (among a few VolNation members at least) as to whether he would return or take his chances overseas.

Wow, I hadn't even entertained this idea. Has anyone inside the program said anything that would indicate he is seriously considering not returning for a 5th year?

Link for the lazy?

RT @BFQuinn: Cuonzo Martin said he will sit down with Jeronne Maymon and team doctors in January, decide on 2012-13 Statius. Redshirt is a possibility.

RT @BFQuinn: Martin said if it came down to Maymon returning for just the last month of season, he'd hold him back. "I wouldn't do that to Jeromne."

"No decision has been made ... right now. We’ll figure out the best-case scenario for Jeronne Maymon, first and foremost." - Cuonzo Martin

"I don’t want to make a premature decision and give you a (decision) date. I’d just be lying at this point." Cuonzo Martin on Jeronne Maymon

Wait. You are telling me UT will be nationally ranked after failing to score 40 points in two games thus far and beating W. Carolina, Xavier, and Memphis all of which are home games and none of them are themselves ranked teams?

OK. Right, less talking, more thinking.

I'm not a betting person, but if I were I would put money on us being ranked or one of the last 3 out if we win out before SEC play.

If we won out through Memphis I think we might make the bottom top 25 as well. At least an outside shot anyways.

I'll say this. You guys certainly paint a prettier picture of this team is compared to what the general concensus is. Tennessee is completely irrelevant on the national scene - which has been completely earned based on our play. If we won the next three games by 20 points each we might move into the "other teams receiving votes" category.

A polling reality check for those with dreams of the next three games getting us into the national rankings. The only 3-loss team in the top 25 is UNC. The 24th ranked team dismantled us on a neutral court.

What does how many points you score a game have to do with being ranked? What an idiotic statement.

And this just flat out proves your negativity and bias...you list those wins, yet dont mention the best win and vs a ranked team in Wichita State...wow.

If this team is 9-3 with losses to 3 ranked teams, and a win against a ranked team, yes I'm pretty confident they'll be ranked.

(Georgetown and Okie State are ranked, Virginia is not, but likely will be within the next week)

You're right completely irrelevant and thought to be such a garbage team yet are projected in the tournament by Joe Lunardi, great logic.

You do realize that we are talking about 2+ weeks away from now right...do you suspect everyone in the top 25 to go undefeated over the next 2 weeks?

We should go 3-0. Then we'll see where we are ranked.
