In his PC Pruitt insinuated that CB's weren't a need for this 2018 class

Any ideas on who may start at CB next year, other than Tyler Byrd? Maybe he sees better options in the 2019 class? I believe we just missed on our targets and he didn't want to admit it.

Ask after spring practice. By then, we know if anybody quits or transfers in or out. February is a bad time to ask that question.

Of course he missed on those targets, but he isn't going to dwell on it like plenty of wussies obsessed with things they can't control. Move the Hell on.

I think Shamburger has one side locked down. Hopefully Osborne/Byrd will show out and start opposite of him. If that happens, our defense gets a lot better, in a hurry!

Moseley graduated. Byrd, Shamburger, LaBruzza, Osbourne, Buchanan....we got options, let’s see who steps up.

Bailey too...it’s a legit 3-deep and all with at least 2 years left...if the coaches can get the most out of them then we are in a decent position

It's called you don't disrespect your current players just for recruiting purposes. That was a message to his current team that he believes in them.

Moseley is gone, Butch loved him and why I will never now. More times than none he got burnt like crisp toast. We do have talent at CB, it just hasn't had any coaching. We have football coaches that actually know how to coach football in the SEC now. It's been a while since we have had that. GBO!!!!!

We absolutely missed.

But we still have 2 guys on our roster who were top 100 players at CB.(Byrd and Osborne)
Another who was recruited by Bama (Shamburger)
And another by LSU (Lebruzza)

So he was telling the truth. He believes we have talent there.

We went 0 - 8 in the SEC last year. We have a new coach. It will take some time. I believe Pruitt and his coaches did a real good job just getting us back in the top 20 in recruiting for no longer than they have been here. At least we were in the top 3 of a bunch of 5 star kids. That's a change for sure. It wont be long before we will be getting those players. And i do think we will surprise a lot of people this year just because we now have some football coaches here at Tennessee.

3 Marquill Osborne DB 5-11 188
4 Maleik Gray DB 6-2 191
10 Tyler Byrd WR 6-0 195
15 Shawn Shamburger DB 6-0 191
18 Nigel Warrior DB 6-0 194

28 Baylen Buchanan DB 5-11 185

I think we sit pretty well honestly with the guys we signed. I think guys like Jackson, Labruzza and Gray could play CB... all have speed and size to do it and move well.

We're not sitting well. But we're not empty at the spot either. Average depth with good potential.

Gray is not a CB.

Jackson is flexible. He may get first crack at the star position.

Flowers might play there as well. But I think he plays safety first.

Norwood and Davis are confirmed blue shirts.

Norwood is a safety and Davis is a corner.

Thanks

Maybe this has been answered too but with those guys as blueshirts and not signing our 25 limit, what do we have as far as spots next year? Do we get to backcount, what is the advantage of blueshirting guys if not?

Assuming we sign no one additional...

You forgot Abernathy. Have heard he could actually move to CB. I'm thinking he stays at S.

Gray is much more likely to play STAR in Pruitt's defense. Too slow for CB, probably too slow for S also.
