There was a time when both Andy Staples and Stewart Mandell covered CFB for Sports Illustrated… ~2 decades ago. Stew’s softball team was named, Sporting Wood, and Andy’s basset hound was named, Leeloo (yep, after the 5th element).
SI fell into the same trap so many business have. They had a great product, but as technology changed, they chose to pursue a different customer base ( not just sports fans) rather than adapt with their existing base

Also, and I can emphasize this enough, I prefer swimsuit models to be without a weiner. Call me old fashioned. Call me crazy. I’m just stuck in my ways.
