Not knocking CJP and staff but he's now at an inflection point in recruiting. He can either show us that he and his staff are the ace recruiters we think they are or they will discover how hard it is to recruit to UT compared to FSU, Bama and UGA. Again not a knock but these last few offers I've seen look like project type players who may need 3 or 4 years from now before they are productive.

This kid doesn't have an offer.

Not sure how many big time backs we are gonna attract with an O-line and rushing statistics like ours atm...

Build it...and they will come...

They've already shown us what ace recruiters they are by getting this many elite players seriously considering us this late in the cycle with the team they have had to work with. If they manage to get any of them with the shape we are in, they have excelled. In the meantime they are also leaving no stone unturned looking for talent they can coach and develop which may take more than a year. I sure hope they don't stop working to turn this program if it doesn't happen as quickly as some fans demand.

I love posts like this that aren't criticizing a coach by criticizing the coach.

If you read the two post above yours, you will notice that the kid has no offer as of yet. However, even if he did have an offer, that would be no great sin on the part of our coaching staff. Thing is, even Saban takes in a "project" or two that he thinks is worth his while every year. A kid who he believe in, one who he believes will put in the effort to make the grades and do the work to excel in his program. So, if CJP and staff take in several diamonds-in-the-rough each year and we see one of them develop into a true diamond... he and his staff look great... our football program looks great... everyone wins! So, what is the problem? The problems we have right now is NOT recruiting a few less than perfect players each year... it has been a lack of consistency in coaching and player development since 2008 when Fulmer was fired midseason. That That lack of coaching and player development has led to the state of player apathy we saw last season when the players hit the field under the direction, or should I say "the MISDIRECTION" of Butch Jones and company. However, we cannot lay all the blame on the head of Coach Jones, for he was not the sole culprit in the demise of our proud football tradition on the river's edge... just a big part of it. But that is all water under the bridge and has flowed past. Coach Pruitt and staff have been working with our young men for less than a year now, and we have seen pride returning to the field in Orange and White. Our players, even when games have been long lost, have not quit on our staff... they kept on playing to the end - not like last year when they quit before the end of the first half in some games. Our coaching staff is working with the the under-coached and under-developed players they inherited, as well as the apathy created by the turmoil surrounding the program since 2008. Now, if we want to see the program improve more rapidly... we need to stop the complaining, second-guessing the coaches, and all the childish college freshman binge bickering that we are all prone to do... and encourage our coaches and players. We need to understand that though Pruitt is a first time HC, he is no dummy... he has learned his craft from some of the very best in the trade, and he has some of the best to network with if he want to "bounce something off the wall" with someone. Now as to your fear concerning the UT recruiting staff... look at our NATIONAL ranking right now. not too shabby... Right???

Some of these RBs that have hit our radar are head scratchers at best. I guess what it could be are guys that would be willing to blue shirt or grey shirt in order to come to Tennesseee.

Kid is running behind a pretty good line that is giving him room to get to the second level where is is able to make people miss him. Seems to have good vision and cutting ability.
Too bad UT's line can't make those kinds of holes.

Disagree. If they are ace recruiters, they will get their signatures. I don’t have anything but positive things to say about their recruiting so far this cycle, but there is no consolation prize for coming in second for a recruit, regardless of the shape of the program.

Head scratchers at best?

You clearly have no ability to evaluate film or see potential in a recruit. Guess it's a good thing Pruitt and his coaches are who UT hired and not you.

So, I guess we’re on the path to coach worship again. That’s good.

I’m not saying I’m a better talent evaluator than our coaching staff. But I’m not willing to say our staff is better evaluators than the other top staffs in the SEC. If those guys haven’t offered, I’m inclined to believe these guys are lower level “reach” type of recruits. Doesn’t mean they won’t be good players. Just means we’re out on a limb.

Nope, no worship here. But I think Pruitt's track record as a talent evaluator at FSU, UGA, and Bama speaks for itself.

I have no problem with them giving these guys looks. Not all offers are committable offers either. They're still going to go after guys like Eric Gray, John Emery, and the rest first. These are guys who had breakout senior seasons who they want to evaluate a little more.
