There will more and more political pressure put on the sport due to the inability to prevent concussions, more lawsuits from former players, etc. Football will eventually be deemed to dangerous and will either be eliminated altogether by the nanny state that thinks its primary role is to protect people from themselves or the game will be forced to change into some sort of glorified two hand touch and will look nothing like what we are watching today. Just my thoughts.
