Possibly May because he's from the Bloomington area and was on I believe Knight's staff. IU fans wanted him last few years before he went to Michigan. I know several people related to Dusty and they said Iu is his "dream job" but have told me he really doesn't want to spurn UM after just one season.
Yeah, they could have hired him from Fla Atlantic, but not from Michigan.

Oltzerberger from Iowa St getting a lot of traction in the local media here too.

Steven's and May have already both publicly said no....and yeah, I get it no is only no until someone is hired. But with May while I think IU is his destination job, I think he feels it's too early for him. Steven's is not going to go back to the college game after the Celtics.

Indiana thinking they can hire Brad Stevens is even dumber than Tennessee and Gruden.

YEP - and other than that one article posted earlier in the thread, no one...absolutely NO ONE...in the media has Pearl as an option to IU.
The younger fans around here would love to see Pearl, but the older folks - you know the ones that actually control the money - want no part of Pearl and the past baggage.

Crean never did much without Wade and Archie Miller is nowhere near as good a coach as his brother.
They are not buffoons, but certainly not above average coaches either.
Cream has been to a Final Four and had IU as a #1 seed in 2013. He also took them to the sweet 16 three times. I’d call that above average. He and Archie Miller aren’t in the same category.

Beard could go. Idk if IU’s higher ups would want him though with his past. I think Chris Jans would be a good hire for them. Heck there’s a couple coaches in the SEC I think they could get and it would be a good hire, but not a splashy name. And IU is gonna go after the splashy name. They just need a good X’s and O’s guy. Indiana will recruit itself
If they won’t hire Beard because of his past why would they hire Jans, who was fired at Bowling Green for lewd and inappropriate behavior toward women at an off-campus bar?

May is an IU grad and was a student manager for Knight. I think it’s his if he wants it.

May signed extension with Michigan today...taking himself out of the IU job picture.

Although I heard an interesting take on local radio this week. Could Scott Dolson (IUAD) be playing the long game for Dusty?
Theory was hire a guy like another Crean or Archie Miller to float them 2 to 3 yrs and then go after Dusty after he proves more at Michigan.

With Mike Woodson set to step away at the end of the season, the coaching search for Indiana is one of the larger storylines in college basketball.

During an episode of Barstool Sports' "Pardon My Take," St. John's head coach Rick Pitino, who won a national championship with Kentucky in 1996, gave his opinion on who should become the next head coach of the Hoosiers.

Pitino, a former rival of the Hoosiers, thinks Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard would be the perfect fit for Indiana."I would immediately not even interview anybody else and hire one of the premier coaches in all of college basketball--that's Chris Beard," Pitino said. "I wouldn't even think about another person. He's perfect for that job."Pitino said he was impressed by how Beard ran his program when he went to Texas Tech to give a speech to their players.

Friday afternoon, Dusty May’s name effectively came off the board in Indiana’s coaching search. The Hoosiers will be looking for a replacement for Mike Woodson after he resigns at season’s end.

With May and Brad Stevens as two names officially out for the IU position, The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman offered a new name he thinks the Hoosiers should target. He called on Indiana to hire Iowa State coach TJ Otzelberger.
