Indiana Basketball Head Coach Opening

Why would a basketball school like Indiana hire a terrible coach who was fired from a football first school like Georgia?
If he's not good enough for Georgia, why would Indiana give him the time of day?
dont know why he left UF for Georgia in the first place - & Indiana has hired some losers since Bob Knight was fired - I think Beard will get the job though

He left Florida for Georgia because Florida was about to fire him.
It was a great move for him - not only got a raise after less than stellar performance at a prior job but also gets to coach at a school who doesn't GAF about basketball and won't fire him for mediocre seasons.

YEP - and other than that one article posted earlier in the thread, no one...absolutely NO ONE...in the media has Pearl as an option to IU.
The younger fans around here would love to see Pearl, but the older folks - you know the ones that actually control the money - want no part of Pearl and the past baggage.
Not like CBP is CBK.

last nights win over UF probably saved his job if in fact the rumors he was getting fired were true

Absolutely. Not hard to see the reasoning (at least from White's side. I don't understand it from Georgia's side).

IU will never be Knight IU again. That's a really good thing for IU, but they will never win at that level again, and the days of IU being THAT job are long gone.

I don't think there's any way they were about to fire him. At a school that cared about basketball, maybe.

Their record on the surface is not good but looks a lot better when you go game-by-game (and did so even before last night's win). Basically every team they have lost to is good or great (their worst loss, by far, is at Arkansas) and they've beaten St John's, UK, and now UF. They also played Auburn really well twice. They are currently 37th in KenPom and would probably be firmly in the NCAAT if they played in any other conference.

Morning radio out of Bloomington is kind of comical now. Says IU has a solid chance of winning the last 4 games of the year and that puts them in the conversation of being in the NCAA tourney.
IF they win one or two in the NCAA, is that a case for Woodson to stay?

Straight comedy and reminded me so much of the UT fanbase.

It's what happens when a proud brand/fanbase has virtually no real success over a long period of time. Since their last great season (2001-02), they furthest they've gone in the tournament is the Sweet 16 and they've missed the NCAAT altogether 10 times since then. By comparison, Tennessee has missed the NCAAT only 8 times over that same span.
