just a few things to say as i'm pressed for time right now.

-Briscoe needs to take better care of his equipment and learn to admit when he makes a mistake or he will find himself doing the same work as Kevin Cogan.

-the class of TK never ceases to amaze me. his comments about Sara Fisher were genuine and heartfelt, no doubt in my mind. he felt awful and you could see it in his face when during his interview.

-Sara Fisher can't buy a break at the 500. kudos to her family who persevered in spite of the fact her main sponsorship backed out right before the month started. she had everything in that car.

i went to text4cars.com just to help her out.

-Danica needs to understand that while the other racers see her as another competitor, the media sees her as woman in a man's sport. she's going to put a fellow driver in the awkward position of defending himself or being the guy that backed down from a woman. Dan Wheldon got a taste last year.

-the race at the Action Track was awesome. kudos to the new promoters for resurrecting one of the great dirt tracks in Terre Haute, Indiana. apparently, it had been empty and unused for the last two years.

got some pics i'll throw tonight or tomorrow.

Danica is in just as bad a spot. You know much more about racing than me, so if you say I'm wrong, I'll probably back down, but it's not fair that Danica can't take up for herself or vent her frustration when a fellow competitor (being male) screws her out of a chance. I don't think she could have won the 500 with that car, but she lost any chance she had because of a dumb move by someone else. I agree that it would put the male competitor in a very awkward spot, but it's not exactly easy for Danica either.

Can't wait for the pics.

Edit: By saying I'm wrong, I only mean if you think Danica was just as much at fault.

this wasn't directed at me, but I feel compelled to answer. I saw nothing she did wrong, she was as far over as possible. It is the team whos car is pulling from the pit stall that is responsible to send their car out safely, plus the driver's job to keep out of the way of on coming cars. Briscoe let his car slide the rear tires to the right where Danica was.

well this isn't meant as a knock towards dooz, but I think you know even more about racing than he does. I agree that I don't think she was at fault at all. Still just think it sucks that she has to be careful about confronting those that wrong her. Of course, now that I think about it, if she wronged someone on the track, it would be very difficult for a male to try and confront her.

Looking forward to the pics, I hope the Action Track can remain open. The Tony Hullman Memorial sprint car race was one of the main races to win in USAC. I was there when Gary Bettenhausen flipped out of the park and injuries cost him his Indy ride with Penske. I believe that opened the door for Mears.

first and foremost, Briscoe was definitely at fault. and driver in the other seat, in this case Danica, has every right to be pissed off.

shoot, i was pissed to watch the replay to find out that whole incident happened while they were side by side for a commercial. if i'm producing the Indy 500, screw the commercial. the second she makes a move to that pit, i'm live.

the way people see her though, in that situation is different. and no, it's not fair. what people see in her when she does does those things is petulance. what people saw in a guy like Foyt when he did those things, or any other driver for that matter, is brashness.

i should add though, that she opens herself up for trouble when she, a 5 foot tall woman, says it's probably better that she didn't make it down there.

it's certainly a fine line either way.

i just hope they don't run it into the ground on Sunday.

the general perception of her in the garage has gotten much better. drivers see her as their equal, a competitor, one person they have to beat. she has enough respect (in the garage) that she can go down there and confront him without saying it's probably better she didn't make it down there. keep in mind, this isn't her first issue with Briscoe.

also, i actually had her on the radio the whole time that went down. i love a woman with a dirty mouth.

I would have loved to hear it. ABC didn't try to air it.

Let me make something clear, doozer knows more about Indy than anyone I know of on VN. and more than anyone I am acquainted with period.

I believe I can hold my own in NASCAR, specially the older stuff.

There is a gentleman by the namd of Donald Davidson who, and I mean literally, knows EVERYTHING about the Indy 500 and the Speedway. The story goes that he wrote the track and said he knew it all. The track people, plus maybe Sid Collins, told him to prove it. When he showed up to do that he blew everybody away because he wasn't full of it. His post race radio show is another Indy tradition.

One interesting note I learned last weekend was that my father's great uncle sold programs at the 1912 Indy 500.

Yes I am well aware of him, I've listened to him on the radio many times, he is amazing, and doesn't need notes.
