I sure don't like Tony Stewart's starting position-39th. Boris Said's position isn't too bad-14th.

Observations; 5 Dodges in top 10. Only one road course ringer in top 10 - Ambrose in 7th, next is Said in 14th, only two in top 20, Scott Pruett in 27th. Franchiti fails to qualify in a Dodge. Not that long ago the ringers would be in the top 10 with one or two in top5. Reflects on the level of driving skill of Cup drivers on road courses.

good point. i think a lot of the young guys of years past are now becoming seasoned vets as well. experience takes a while longer when you only see the track once a year, and it's not an oval.

i have no explanation for why the Dodges qualified so high. it certainly throws a wrench into my picks. very odd to see Kahne and Johnson on the front row.

Kahne is a bit of a surprise, but Johnson has been a steady improver on road courses. I think Infineon and Watkins Glen are the two toughest picks there are, and like you say, it just got harder.

Hard for sure. I wish it could be top 10 picks this week.
I'm leaving out Hendrick cars to help cut it down to five since I don't like them and against my better judgement. Last time it backfired on me and probably will today too.
