SEC Championship: Georgia ( clinched ) vs. Winner of Texas @ Texas A&M ( because of the SEC tie breaker rules )

Next Weeks Games ( Point Spreads per Fan Duel or Draft Kings ):

1. Oregon won now 11-0 ( 18.5 point favorite ) hosts Washington ( 6-5 )
2. Ohio State won now 10-1 ( 20.5 point favorite ) hosts Michigan ( 6-5 )
3. Texas won now 10-1 ( 7.5 point favorite ) @ Texas A&M ( 8-3 )
4. Penn St. barely won now 10-1 ( 24.5 point favorite ) hosts Maryland ( 4-7 )
5. Indiana LOST now 10-1 ( 25.5 point favorite ) hosts Purdue ( 1-10 )
6. Notre Dame won now 10-1 ( 7 point favorite ) @ USC ( 6-5 )
7. Alabama LOST now 8-3 ( 11.5 point favorite ) hosts Auburn ( 5-6 )
8. Georgia won now 9-2 ( 19.5 point favorite ) hosts Georgia Tech ( 7-4 )
9. Ole Miss LOST now 8-3 ( 26.5 point favorite ) hosts Miss. St. ( 2-9 )
10. Tennessee won now 9-2 ( 12.5 point favorite on Fan Duel and 11.5 point favorite on Draft Kings ) @ Vanderbilt ( 6-5 )
11. Miami won now 10-1 ( 10.5 point favorite ) @ Syracuse ( 8-3 )
12. Boise St. won now 10-1 ( no line I could find ) hosts Oregon St. ( 5-6 )
13. SMU won now 10-1 ( 12.5 point favorite ) hosts California ( 6-5 )
14. BYU LOST now 9-2 ( 10.5 point favorite ) hosts Houston
15. Texas A&M LOST now 8-3 ( 7.5 point underdog ) hosts Texas

Tennessee is in the perfect spot, not having to play in the SEC Championship game. As long as they beat Vandy, all will be right in the world. Many UGA fans are pissed about being in the SEC Championship. If Texas loses to A&M does it knock them out? I don't think so. So does Texas care if they beat A&M?

I predict Tennessee beats Vandy and the stadium is 70% orange.

Here's my utterly subjective poll prediction and prediction of next weeks' games. Feel free to submit yours:

1. Oregon wins
2. Ohio State wins
3. Texas LOSES in a hostile and LOUD College Station and A&M plays Georgia for the SEC Championship. A&M then Beats Georgia and shocks the world.
4. Notre Dame LOSES to USC
5. Penn St. wins
6. Georgia wins
7. Tennessee wins
8. Miami LOSES
9. Indiana wins
10. Boise St. wins
11. SMU LOSES
12. Clemson wins
13. South Carolina wins
14. Alabama wins
15. Ole Miss wins
16. Tulane - who cares about the rest of these
17. Arizona State
18. UNLV
19. Texas A&M
20. BYU
21. Illinois
22. Army
23. Missouri
24. Memphis
25. Colorado

God bless the great state of Tennessee. In the name of Jesus.

After we handle Vanderbilt Hopefully tex beats A&M. That would put us clearly in with no questions. Give us the 8th seed hosting Indiana.

Clemson plays South Carolina, so both can't win.

We need to beat Vanderbilt.

Three of the 5-8 spots are pretty much locked in for Ohio St/Oregon loser, Penn State, and Notre Dame. I’m not sure who losing in the SECCG would benefit us more; If Georgia loses, do they stay ahead of us at 8 since they beat us? Or if Texas loses, they SHOULD go behind Tennessee based on SoS, but will the committee be eyeing the dollar signs on the brand and location?

Point is, there is a chance we could stay at 8 and play our first round game in Neyland.

Why do I see that a three loss Alabama team is even mentioned in the Playoff possibilities?
I feel that the committee would try to put them in with 5 losses.

We've played better teams than Vandy this year, but we better come laser focused and ready to play. They would like nothing better than to play the role of spoiler on Saturday.

Gotta focus on Vandy, my VBS tells me it won’t be a walk in the park
Right!! As I watch them at LSU last night I feel we must really have a good performance from our receivers. Really hard to run on these guys. Someone on the defense is gonna need to spy on their QB all game long. His type of run/throw player give us trouble. They are a tough team.. I expect a tough game.

The current ESPN projection has UT playing on the road against UGA. I don't think that will happen, I think UGA beats Texas in Atlanta. I don't think the committee would want a UGA UT rematch anyways.

True, because they didn’t want to be left out in the event of a SECCG loss… but now with all the chaos, they’ll probably still get in regardless (just in a different seed).
Unfortunately, I don't see Texas or A&M beating them. Given the game is in Atlanta, it will essentially be a home game for them. They always seem to play well there too.

Best case scenario is A&M beats Texas and gets left out of the playoffs due to their SOS, which has been ridiculously easy.. However, that's probably not going to happen even though it should.

At least not that early in the rounds. If we take care of business, it will probably be Penn State or Indiana (provided their SOS doesn't leave them out).

Best case scenario for us is probably A&M beating Texas and then losing to Georgia in the SECCG. Would likely put as the 8 seed ahead of the Longhorns and hosting a playoff game.

Every other scenario probably has on the road, save possibly UGA losing to Texas in the CCG.

1. Texas loses to A&M; Georgia beats A&M. Result: Tennessee probably hosting.

2. Texas beats A&M; Texas loses to UGA. Result: Tennessee ranked behind 2-loss Texas (both to Georgia, 1 in SECCG), probably on road 1st round.

3. Texas beats A&M; Texas beats UGA; Tennessee possibly ranked behind Georgia (will committee punish 3rd loss in CCG?), probably on road 1st round, but outside chance we’re ranked ahead of UGA.

4. A&M beats Texas; A&M beats Georgia. While we would likely be ahead of Texas in this scenario, A&M claiming the automatic spot would shift everyone down, so we’d likely be on the road 1st round. Worst case scenario.

Conclusion: Beat Vandy, cheer for Aggie, and then cheer for Georgia to beat A&M to possibly host 1st round game in Neyland.

This is something we do not want to happen. A&M is behind us right now and out of the playoffs. Let them stay that way. Are UGA & Texas close enough to us that a loss knocks them below? UGA - maybe. Texas - No.

If Texas loses to A&M they will not drop below us. They will also have 2 losses.

If this happens we are back to relaying on a subjective committee punishing UGA for getting beat in a championship game. Would they do it 2 years in a row?

This is why I’ve said several times it depends when it comes to someone like Georgia picking up it’s 3rd loss in the championship game.

Based on their SOS, UGA would still be in the playoff IMO if they lose to Texas. They will have split the season with the #2 or 3 team in the nation and would not be penalized for that. But if the opponent is A&M and they lose especially if it’s a bad showing for UGA then that could knock them out. Likewise Texas probably doesn’t fall below us but again it could depend on how badly they get beat if they were to lose. There’s just so many variables it’s hard to predict that sort of thing. And it could be also influence by what ends up happening in other conference CCGs.

We don't want A&M to win. They are behind us, keep them there. They beat Texas and then win in Atlanta, you are right - all SEC teams move down - including us.

We want the highest ranking possible without going to Atlanta. Current projection is # 7 Bama & Ole Miss are now behind us, let Texas put UGA(#6) behind us. Let Oregon blast OSU and good chance they are behind us. That moves us up to #5 in ranking, probably #6 on the bracket

We want the chaos to stop now!
Let Texas handle A&M. Keeps Aggie out.

Let Texas handle UGA, likely knocking them out. Too many 1 & 2 loss teams for a 3 loss SEC CG runner up to get in

That leaves US and Texas as the only SEC schools left - path much easier without a second gauntlet of SEC teams to beat.
