Info ( and predictions ) A Vol Fan May Want To Know

This is why I’ve said several times it depends when it comes to someone like Georgia picking up it’s 3rd loss in the championship game.

Based on their SOS, UGA would still be in the playoff IMO if they lose to Texas. They will have split the season with the #2 or 3 team in the nation and would not be penalized for that. But if the opponent is A&M and they lose especially if it’s a bad showing for UGA then that could knock them out. Likewise Texas probably doesn’t fall below us but again it could depend on how badly they get beat if they were to lose. There’s just so many variables it’s hard to predict that sort of thing. And it could be also influence by what ends up happening in other conference CCGs.
Let Aggie stay behind us. Let Texas stay in front of us. A 3 loss SEC team is out so.if UGA loses then bye bye. If they do manage to stay in, then they are also behind us.

Please no more chaos

If we play 60 minutes of solid football, Vols By Fiddy!!!

But I understand you're concern. I believe we'll be prepared and win comfortably in a hard fought battle.

Behr these fans are absurd..... I'm tired of these clowns fretting about Vandy.... Its a home game for us. Even though that stadium is under construction and holds 5-6 fans max, we gonna pack it out. New era.

The current ESPN projection has UT playing on the road against UGA. I don't think that will happen, I think UGA beats Texas in Atlanta. I don't think the committee would want a UGA UT rematch anyways.

This is not the ESPN the project. This is Heather Dinich's projection as the reporter on the CFP.....

She also said she has no idea how the committee ranks a 1 loss indiana in a blowout that was never close vs a 3 loss SEC team. Cmon man

A&M has 3 losses. The only way they could jump us is if they beat Texas and then Georgia in the SECCG. A loss to the Aggies likely puts Texas behind us, and I’ll risk A&M having to beat Georgia.

I can understand caution, we see it happen every week, but I agree, some of these people are just weird. Lol.

It's definitely gonna be interesting.

Right, they have 3 losses so let them stay behind us. No need to introduce more teams. "Likely" puts Texas below us, what if it doesnt? Then you just put another team in front of US.

Let Texas stay at #3 and move to #2 when Oregon beats OSU. Let UGA falls below us when they get beat in the SEC CG.

This puts us as the 2nd highest rated SEC team.

I think we have our breakout SEC offensive outburst ....

We literally got tons of chaos in front of us as if the tides have turned. I know this isn't a normal position for us, but gotta embrace it

STop it. A&M is out of it with 4 losses.... Anyone thinking they have any shot of running the gauntlet of Texas and Georgia in back to back weeks is on some serious substance abuse

"But gotta embrace it" is why I say some of these people are weird. I know it could go South in a second, but I haven't been this excited about football since I don't know when.

These others that won't let themselves get excited that we're still in the hunt for a NC seem to want to bring the rest down with them. Screw that.

Vols by fiddy till it aint. Then life goes on.

I don’t agree with that. UGA won’t be out with a close loss to Texas.

I bet that is what Bama and Ole Piss fans thought also (See results of Florida and OK games). Apparently these fans are not the only ones cautious about playing a team that has nothing to lose and would like nothing better to spoil their hated next door rival. Trust me. It will be a one score difference.... hopefully in UT's favor. They almost beat LSU and Dickwitz at their home stadiums.🤫 As they say, "A word to the wise is sufficient!";)

That is precisely the point I’m making. I was responding to a post that thought the Aggies could jump us if they beat Texas. A&M ain’t beating UGA, so if they beat Texas it helps us.

Since we move to a larger playoff format, do conference championships lose a lot of its meaning?
They’re rendered useless. The only way to make them meaningful is to give all conference winners an automatic bid. Not just the top 4 conference winners.

Call it irrational, but my desire for Texas to not win the SEC in their inaugural season trumps my desire for the best possible seed. If those insufferable twits were to win no one would hear the end of it, ever. We can host a first round game next year.

If they beat TX in the SECCG then they will get a bye in the first round. GA needs to worry about GA Tech first. That is where it get complicated if they then win the SECCG.

Diego Pavia is as dangerous as they get but I think we have his kryptonite.

Like SCAR we have a great pass rush and 2 good CBs. We also have a great rush defense.

Also, even more important we have an excellent running game. I think running game shortcomings are what ultimately did in Alabama and Kentucky against them.

Despite the upsurge in fan support, Tennessee Fans will still outnumber Vandy Fans in Nashville by about 2-1 or better.

We need to beat Vanderbilt.

Three of the 5-8 spots are pretty much locked in for Ohio St/Oregon loser, Penn State, and Notre Dame. I’m not sure who losing in the SECCG would benefit us more; If Georgia loses, do they stay ahead of us at 8 since they beat us? Or if Texas loses, they SHOULD go behind Tennessee based on SoS, but will the committee be eyeing the dollar signs on the brand and location?

Point is, there is a chance we could stay at 8 and play our first round game in Neyland.

It would be hysterical if UGa loses the SECCG and the "committee" says that you can't punish a team for losing a CCG after being noncommittal on the subject up to now. Kind of like bouncing FSU last year after talking about 'deserving' teams and results all year and suddenly saying it's about having the 'four best teams'.

The entire idea of a "committee" of bureaucrats from schools deciding the fate of other schools is absurd beyond words, and rife with the probability of bias. Anyone who doesn't believe that 'views' and ratings won't play a major role in how this idiocy plays out is naive to a fault. The teams and matchups will be with maximum ratings as the first priority, and I fully expect that having a 5th auto bid for a small conference team will go the way of the Dodo by 2026 after a couple of blowouts without ratings.

Why do I see that a three loss Alabama team is even mentioned in the Playoff possibilities?
I feel that the committee would try to put them in with 5 losses.

Very simple - Bama brings eyeballs and ratings. If they can find a way to squeeze them in, you can bank on it happening.

The really funny thing would be if they got the 12-seed, because it's been assumed that the 5-seed is the catbird spot due to playing a patsy first then getting the 4-seed. Imagine if Ohio State or Penn State is #5 and has to deal with Bama.
