I honestly don’t know how to do the official poll so I’ll ask the question, then reply with your choice. Question:

If you were in an airport terminal and someone said “If you get on that plane, there’s a 50% chance you will contract COVID-19. However, If you DON’T get on the plane, there’s a 50% chance you will lose your job”

VN - are you getting on the plane or not?

I would tell him he's lying about the possibility of me getting Covid-19.

We have two GREAT "test tube" cases- The Diamond Princess and the USS Roosevelt.

In the first case, about 3700 passengers and crew were on a ship together for over a week touching all the same surfaces, eating in the same crowded buffet restaurants, using the same hall ways, etc. Even with a sample significantly older than average... 18% became infected after essentially bathing in Covid-19 for over a week.

In the second case, sailors essentially living on top of each for other for months also had about a 20% infection rate.

Most of those infected in both situations had either mild symptoms or no symptoms at all.

Based on all that, I'm going to say that 5 hour plane ride will give me somewhere around a 1% chance of catching the virus and about a .3% chance of actually catching it... and knowing it.

I already did this, minus the 50% chance of losing my job, but the chances of me losing my house or my Jeep getting repo’d were significantly higher, so maybe that cancels out.

I’ll also add I am (and was) skeptical of the 50% infection possibility before I got on the plane.

Guess it depends on how much I like that job amd/or how easily I could get another one.

Also, am I in the vulnerable population for COVID. If yes then no way I get on a plane.

If not, Id say chances of catching COVID from the plane are low as long as you wash hands ect. Not sure about your destination.

You'd get on the plane because you have immunity...

Let's tweak the poll.

Instead of a 50 percent chance you'd lose your job, there's a 50 percent chance you have to be an UGA fan til they win a Natty. What do you choose?

@joevol33 you cant vote
