Nick Saban told reporters in September he respected the media's desire for information, "but we also don't want to create disadvantage for ourselves when situations with players are relatively unknown or day-to-day, and don't know how they are going to be by game time."

Sometimes Nick is a genius. Don't like making it mandatory.

Not a choice under the new rule. Out or questionable. wtf? Don’t they understand neck discomfort?

🤣🤣🤣🤣

By the way, Verlander was sent to Sugarland for a rehab start.
Injury reports are part of the game. The individuals complaining about it will be the first ones to look for it, when the season begins.

And this request is for the same EXACT reason as it is in the pros. It is for the sports books to set lines with. No one has any need to know who is injured and what the injury is.
The only ones pushing for this are the gamblers and Vegas sports books. Hate to see college football get in bed with gambling as much as the NFL has.

I don’t bet on college football and I’m a weirdo in that I like not knowing who’s gonna play until I hear the starting lineups at the stadium and to a lesser degree on TV. So I don’t care about an injury report. Plus, unless you penalize the coaching staffs, they’re just gonna put questionable on everybody with bruise. Or that’s what I’d do

They have never been a part of college sports other than player x is out for y amount of time with generic injury z. Never been the same as a pro team's requirement. All that needs to be known is the player isn't playing for whatever reason. Haven't looked for it in 47 years, not looking for it now.

Pretty much has to be mandatory at this point for gambling purposes. Sports gambling has become so big that they are almost obligated to do so.
Individuals act like it's top secret now, the media knows who's injured and going to play. Just something for people to bitch about.

No it does not. If I were a player and they outed my injury I would get me a HIPPA lawyer. That information could impact my future earnings as a professional player. We in the general public have that protection, why not athletes?

So being out with a severe ankle sprain and being common knowledge is going to impact the players future professional earnings?

Good grief.

Heupel sucks when it comes to reporting injury status, but I thought this would be considered a HIPPA violation?

The SEC is moving toward a mandatory injury report for this coming football season, sources told CBS Sports. The topic was discussed at the conference's annual spring meetings in May with SEC commissioner Greg Sankey telling reporters that while it would be discussed, a final decision would not be made that week.

A mandatory injury report hasn't been officially approved, but multiple sources indicated the details are close to being finalized and are expected to be in place at the start of the 2024 season. A decision could come as early as next week when league athletic directors are scheduled to meet.

I’m not a fan of more rules and regulations. Especially from a group that can’t consistently enforce the rules of fair play. Kindly go screw yourselves SEC and NCAA and then do your jobs.

No, all I need to know is they are out for the game. The most that is needed would be injury based or personal situation based, and that is not even needed. The ONLY people who need more are gamblers and nosy people. I guess everyone isn't like you.
