Maybe not. Unfortunately, with the pressure to win at major Universities, along with the archaic, oversized, unintelligible, rules about what a student athlete can and cannot do, the belief is you are only cheating if you get caught.

I think after the last coach we had in our program, any sort of investigation in our general area is a SCARY thing.

What if they got a little extra money on the gas card and decide to go up I75 to see what LAME-O was doing? :yikes:

The players play the game to get paid. So when an agent offers money then they are going to take it and run 9 out of 10 times.

We'll be associated with Miss St. as the only two SEC schools not investigated for this... Hopefully

Vandy? Also, how does this relate to Tennessee Football? Around the NCAA would be a better place for this ... where there is already a thread about it.

Wow. I'm surprised at the complacency in this thread toward cheating. Sad.

I don't think it's complacenency...I think fans of college football have become jaded to the point they only care if it's their team or their most hated rival.

It's gotten to the point that if the coach farted rolling toward his left butt cheeck rather than the right, there is going to be an NCAA investigation.

Whatever happened to the fact that the only purpose the NCAA was supposed to serve was keeping people safe. Now they have more control of these schools than the AD's.

The NCAA is complacent. I bet 90% of this could be stopped by implementing a zero tolerance policy if the NCAA wanted to. But the coaches & administrators make to much money to do that.

Idk about that but the direction they are going is good. Croom did an exceptional job building that program.

Here, here, I agree. Let's just hope that we don't have to endure Dooley's building of the program for such a length of time.

Good part is stuff like this gets attention away from the brawl....basically it is almost forgotten now....

What is the ethical or morale argument as to why an athlete shouldn't be paid? I realize it is an NCAA rule, but my question is, what was the motivation for them to make athletes work for no money?

There isn't one, it'd result in less money in the AD and NCAA pockets.

Atheletes are paid in the form of a scholarship no matter how you want to twist it. Is it comparable to what the universities pull in? No, but let's not pretend these student athletes aren't being compensated.

I heard they are even investigating Smokey. He was seen hanging with a sleazy mutt in South Beach, looking for favors. Smokey has declined comment.
