Let me first say that I support CBJ and he will get his 3 years regardless, but the play to this point is unacceptable. I am sick of hearing we don't have the players to compete...

Look at the string of coaches recently that had instant improvement their first years -

Hugh Freeze - Ole Miss
Hate to say it - James Franklin - Vanderbilt
Jim Mora Jr. - UCLA
Urban Meyer - Ohio State

Besides OS, the rest did not have top 25 recruiting classes like the Vols have had the last several years.

Coaching does make a difference and I give CBJ a grade of a D to this point of the season.

Go Vols and for gods sake let's make a bowl this year !!!

Ok, this has been said 100 times, but people need to quit saying because we had 4 top 25 recruiting classes in a row we should win. 1/3 of those players are no longer here guys because they either never panned out, got kicked off, or left early for pros when they shouldn't have. Our team depth is the worst I've ever seen it, and a person very close to me who's missed one UT game at home in 30 years, let that sink in for a second, has said multiple times that our roster is the worst he's ever seen due to unfortunate circumstances and bad recruiting.

Maybe we can get the death penalty from dumba$$ foster running his mouth so we can just start all over from scratch. Cause a bowl ban isn't really a punishment for us

You might want to look at that 2012 class again. Specifically at DB, LB and OL.

OH, but we got in 4 4* WRs. That's more 4*s than the entire number of commits to those 4 position groups combined. That isn't even saying rankings where, between those 3 entire position groups, we got 1 4* DB, 1 3* LB and no OL. Seriously. We got no OL in 2012.

Look at the numbers and attrition under Dooley and then we'll talk.

Of course, none of this matters as we struggled with a South Alabama that has only had a football team since 2009. There are no damned excuses for our team flopping like that.

Dooley wasn't just an idiot on the field, he was a bad recruiter. The only reason we recruited well in 2011 was due to Lance Thompson and Charlie Baggett. With both of those 2 gone from the staff in the 2012 season, we saw the Dooley recruiting idiocy match his on-field success.

Let's compare the strength of schedule of each of those teams against ours. It's much easier to look good immediately against a lineup of soft teams.

What we saw today was a young team emotionally drained from a gut wrenching loss last week and looking ahead to the gauntlet of hell coming down the pike. This season isn't going to be pretty, but all things considered it was expected.

BOTTOM LINE- no excuses for beating a team that has only been around since 2009 by 7 points!!! And they had a chance to tie the game!!! And it was at home!!!
Good grief- come on man. Let the score stand for itself. It was not CBJ's greatest game and it shouldn't take a guy whose only missed 1 home game in 30 years to realize it is not our roster that is the problem.

They didn't look too emotionally drained "chest bumping" early in the game.

Urban isn't a fair comparison. He walked into a gold mine. A team one year removed from Jim Tressel at the helm who had them a top 10 team every year up until he was fired. What the hell has Hugh Freeze or James Franklin done. They have done nothing of significance.

^^THIS^^

I was bored at work the other day and was looking at our previous recruiting classes.

since 2010(players that would be seniors now)we have lost for whatever reason the following players:
1-5*
16-4*
8-3*
1-2*
that's 26 players over 4 years. or 6-7 GOOD players each year

our starters are fine but the backups are just not there yet.

also we have played 14 TRUE freshmen this year. that's 3rd in the NCAA

tell me again how were stacked

Hugh Freeze was 7-6 in Year #1 and Houston Nutt had good recruiting classes.
Franklin was 6-7 in Year #1.
Urban Meyer inherited one of the most talented rosters in college football.

I'll give you Jim Mora. He's one of the best coaches in college football.

Oh no, no, no. Ole Miss and Vandy would have only lost by 40 @ Oregon(sarcasm intended)

It's gotten comical how people just don't get where we are right now.

I get that Fulmer and Cut need to open up the playbook. And don't get me started on Chavis' third down defense today.

They also didn't have to put out a dumpster fire either

Dude have you ever laid down the Jackie D bottle and sat back before you typed things on here. Every small team that comes to Neyland is going to try to beat us, and many have their better games here. What allows big SEC schools to win against teams like S. Bama is quality depth. By the 3rd quarter these teams are usually so tired that the third/fourth strings run over them. That's no longer the case here with our depth problems. Our back ups are guys teams like S. Bama recruit out of highschool. Worley couldn't even start for S. Bama right now. I mean that. He is the worst QB I've seen strap on a helmet here in 20 years. Get a grip on your twisted panties and open your eyes to changed times here. We aren't the dominate UT of the 90's and early 2000's. You can thank Kiffin, Dooley, and Fulmer for that. CBJ is about to pull the best recruiting class we have had here in a decade, and he's most likely going to do it going 5-7 this year. Let the man work.

Yeah--it's our idiotic redneck fans that won't ever let anything good happen here.

News flash *******s---NOBODY is riding in here and saving us. So give CBJ some time.
