We need aggressive OL and DL for the next class. If we can get top talent there. We can have a NC within the next 2 - 4 years

I have seen the kid from Mt Juliet and Gonzales from Manchester play, I am not overly impressed with either of them as I have seen them beat by much smaller players

There are a few guys to watch for instate next year but I can only think of a few names. There are a few linemen and Chris Jordan(LB/RB), Rod Wilkes(ATH), and Douglas. I don't know if the class will be as talented as the 07 class but it should be good.
I heard from two different sources that Coach Fulmer was at SHS recruiting Rod Wilkes a while back.

As far as the Knoxville area:

DB/WR Brian Sommer 6'0" 200lbs Alcoa-South Carolina has offered and I believe UT as well.

TE Aaron Douglas 6'6" 240lbs Maryville-Da Vols!

QB Jake Ryan 5'11" 160lbs West-I think D-I for his background and mental capacity, but not a UT prospect. Vanderbilt is evaluating

WR Ken Easterly 6'2" 185lbs West-South Carolina is very interested as is Vanderbilt.

QB Brent Burnette 6'2" 185lbs Maryville-If you saw the '06 4A championship, you know, he has a GUN. Apparently thought, Derek Hunt, last years starter, had the better 'mind', but Burnette can straight fling it. (FYI, Maryville uses/used a 2 QB system)

Come on, name some in your area!

I've seen Rod Wilks play many times, really improved between his soph and jr years.Rod has always been one of the best athletes on the field even back in his jr pro yrs, he just had to get mentally tougher and I believe this is happening now. Probably end up as a 4 star recruite.I also coached David Spurlock in jr pro ( ol from Riverdale high) great kid would love to see him as a vol.

I saw this great runnning back in Oak Ridge this last fall. He is only in second grade though.:neener:

That is funny, but no lie, Here in cordova we have a 6'4", 240 lb ,12 year old DE. The first time I seen him I thought he was a large coach dressed out. He is the biggest 12 year old I have ever seen. Anyone know when it is too early to wisper UT in their ears?

my son just turned 4 at the end of August. at his 4 -year check up, he was 3ft. 10" and weighed 63 lbs. I am 28 years old and his fingertips are only 1 inch shorter than mine. he can already throw a junior pro football 15 yards on a spiral ,can hit a baseball 100ft., and can dunk a basketball on a 5 1/2 foot goal.by the way, he loves UT and calls all other teams the "bad guys." He is definitely on his way to Knoxville if I can help it.....

hey, it may sound funny to you, but if he continues to grow and pans out...who knows. I may just be a dad that has wishful thinking.

I was just joking in that last comment. It would be nice, but it is not realistic. Who knows how kids are going to develop, some continue to keep improving and growing and some level off. But, back to the true reason of the thread, are there any skill players in the state that look good for next year?

The best skill players are Rodriguez Wilks(WR), Chris Jordan(RB/LB) and Brian Sommer(DB). There are some other good ones but they play TE, FB, LB, etc.

I have seen Rod Wilkes play as well. He seems to be pretty close to the real deal. Lamarcus Coker was probably the most impressive player I have seen in person besides John Henderson.
