I may regret it but I don’t see the Bama love. They’ll be good but top 5? Bryce saved them from a 8-4 or worse. If Young gets hurt instead of the Texas QB, Bama loses that game by 3 or more TDs, they’d lost to Ole Miss also. He played unreal vs Tenn. & they still lost. Losing him & their best RB could be a huge challenge. I’m not buying they’re gonna run the ball down everyone’s throat. The game is about QBs. I don’t care who your coach is.

I hate bama, but I am not putting them out of the preseason top 5 with Saban and the talent they have.

We could easily lose three of the four games against Georgia , Bama, A&M and Florida I think we probaly split those 4 games though
A&M has to be the biggest wildcard in the nation this year. If their coaching staff can work together, they might have something. I personally don't think it will go well for them. I also think Florida is worse than last year. Napier is not impressive to me.

I'm just saying if we go 9-3 this year and people are mad about it, they need to have their head examined. Heupel has earned good will and that's a great season compared to most of the last 15 years. That won't be a bad year at all for this year's team.

accurate assessment. We are almost guaranteed to take a small step back this year. Take that Alabama game off the W column this year barring the unforeseen. We had a receiver/QB combo that single handedly dismantled the bama secondary......on our home field and still won with a last second field goal. We paly competitive against Bama this year but no W.

Seems like a bit of a strawman. Is anyone really predicting we'll make the playoff this season?

Sure, we're probably "overrated" if the media were making Dobbs4Heisman like 15-0 predictions for us next season, but I'm not seeing anyone making those types of predictions. The highest I've seen is ESPN put us at #6 pre-season and most of the media probably has us more in the #8 to #20 range.

When was the last time we had back to back ten plus win seasons? I would be happy with another 11-2 season or 10-3

He has the ability to run so I expect him to make some huge plays every now and then

IMO Hooker scared me when he ran, used to would spin a lot, ball was a little loose and high stepping juke moves. Honestly I like the Bryce Young run and go down or get out of bounds method.

This was a designed run for Milton and he did execute it very well. Hooker had the ability to feel the pressure and move enough to buy some time for a pass or break away and make a big play. That 40 yard run against the Gators when it looked like he was sacked stands out in my mind. Joe may well be able to develop that ability but he hasn't shown it yet. And yes Bryce Young was sick in this regard. We just couldn't get him on the ground last year.

I think the regular season ceiling for TN is probably 11-1. That might sound generous, but much depends on the offense. Particularly line play and QB play. The defense would also need to be more consistent. I say this is the ceiling bc it’s just extremely unlikely to beat both Bama and GA.

I think the basement is 8-4. It’s not an easy schedule and most teams usually lose a game they should probably win. I say this is the basement mainly bc I just don’t see TN losing 5.

Overall it’s just hard to predict. Us fans really don’t know what we have until at least a few games in.

I like where Vols play A&M in their schedule compared to Tenn. (after Ark & Alabama with Vols coming off a bye).

Brock Vandagriff? Haven’t heard much about him, know he was a 5 star in high school
We have to remember that M Bobo is now taking over the offense and in my mind he has yet to prove he can operate on a title contending level as OC. He certainly will have the on-field tools needed, if he just has the brain and leadership skills for it......we shall see.

If we lose to UF this year, we have major issues. TAMU will be an improved team and that’s gonna be a really tough game. I definitely think we lose to Bama and UGA.

Agreed. I could see Bobo, Jimbo-ing the Georgia offense. Not saying they’ll be Texas AM 5-7 level bad (because they play no one), but I don’t expect this transition to be smooth

UGA will be even better this year as they are loaded with talent. His name escapes me, but their QB is supposedly the real deal. Their defense will be stout and they are always strong in the trenches. Their schedule is laughable but hopefully volnation will be the difference and we pull out a Dub.
With words like “supposedly” and “his name escapes me“ how do you know they will be better?

You must not know their overall roster. UGA is loaded and my point is their new QB is more talented than their walk on who won two titles.
