I am going to address the inital question about us recruiting in-state. First, things have worked for UGA for a few years. I can remember a long stretch where they had all those in-state boys and they were the perpetual #3 or #4 in the SEC East. You just cannot assume that your in-state HS programs are going to turn out enough guys to keep you on top every year. I noticed UGA's big QB recruit this year is from Dallas, not Valdosta, etc. Second, Georgia has more population and probably an overall better HS football scene than we do in Tennessee. Third, Tennessee is a divided state. How many kids does UT get from Memphis? Almost all of the Memphis blue chippers would rather play at Ole Miss or Memphis than UT. I am not even going ot attempt to explain the reason for that but it is what it is. Then subtract some of the good players who just want to get away from home and the kids who think a certain coach at another school would help them develop more. There is just not a whole lot of talent left at that point.
