Interesting interview with Phillip Fulmer

Good guy for sure. I love how it is breaking his heart that the program is struggling versus "Those bastards should have kept me..." I still think it was the right decision to let him go, just because it was painfully obvious he was unwilling to adjust to the new game and he was getting killed for it. Could he learn from his mistakes and modernize his approach? Probably. He's not my favorite candidate, but I do have a boat load of respect for the guy and his attitude.

I guess you haven't seen the new Arky coach. His game is anything but new.

At this pt I'd be ok with him coming back if he brings the old crew back for a reunion....Chavis and Cutcliffe. I know many don't want any but still think this crew could be a one that can get us back on track, rebuild the mess that he was apart of creating etc. Chavis is still a big name hire amongst recruits too. Maybe the 3 can agree to not fall back on the prevent and go from there. If cut won't come back then keep chaney. My concern in all this hire is the DC hire more than anything so Chavis is key to this opinion.

(as a Dooley fan I would be happy with him being asked back too. This will give him the time he can use to prove to recruits he will be here for at least the majority of thier times here. He also knows all the issues and just pick up from there and power through it. Would be a good refresh/mulligan in my opinion and could be best for all in the long run. I know I'll get bashed for it but don't care. I care for what's best for the school I love. And this is what I believe would be best ATP as an alum, fan, and professional opinion.)

GBO!!!

You were doing ok til the second half of your post and the crack your smoking overwhelmed you.

I would be all in for Fulmer and Chavis returning. Cutcliff wouldn't come back he just resigned with Duke for the next century.

Ya and he is going to be doing good to last there for 4 years with that game... Wisconsin was completely back doored in this year because of the convicts at the top of the B1G who were locked out of a post season. 5 yards and a cloud of dust will not win much in Today's game. He had bloated records by playing extremely weak OOC schedules coupled with a league that has been in the dumps lately... He wouldn't have lasted much longer now that Michigan is back on the rise (albeit slowly) and with OSU just reloading and Penn St looking to improve as well. So he cut his stock and ran for a pay raise while the getting was good.

And I'm not really talking about run vs pass or Offense vs Defense with Fulmer or anything. It is mainly that the man played with the old mindset of get a lead early and nurse it and he lost almost every time in this age of the 2 and 1 minute drills. You could almost bank on losing with Fulmer if we went into the 4th quarter with anything less than a 2 touchdown lead against any team worth a crap.

A coach said it recently, though I can't remember who it was: Coaching at the major-college or NFL level is a 10-year job; after that, it's downhill owing to burnout and other factors. And I agree completely. Fulmer was good for a decade but then things started to slip, and then they started to slide--and look at where we are now.
