Interesting notes from CBS's Seth Davis

Hell man, he had NBA talent when he won both of those titles, Bruce Pearl has never had NBA talent.

Right. Larry Brown simply could not have done as well as what Pearl has done, especially last year when we had considerably more talent than anyone in the conference.

Pearl had nothing like the talent Brown had on that 03-04 Pistons team

This team does not have enough to get anywhere close to the elite eight. I'll be very surprised if they win two games. For even a mid-seed to reach the regional final, you have to be a good shooting team--or go on a very good shooting run. This team simply doesn't shoot well enough to go far.

^^^^^THIS^^^^^^ All day long and on Sundays too. My main criticism of Pearl more than anything else is that he and the staff seemed to get away from recruiting what makes his style of play successful. Quickness and ability to shoot the ball.

Terrance Ogelsby would have been a great fit here, as well as Rotnie Clark and a few others that can bomb it from outside, but didn't have the "star" ratings that some others did.

I know those guys aren't the quickest, but neither was Lofton or Bradshaw.

It does seem as though he's realized the mistakes and gotten some guys that more fit his style for the next two recruiting classes.

Right. Brown just out-talented that Lakers team with 4 Hall of Famers in the starting linup.

I can see the next argument.

"Well Bruce bleeds orange, Brown just jumped around. Great coaches love where they're at. I mean, Hell, he turned down Memphis."

Damn straight. Good thing he did, too. Phil Jackson is a damn cheater.

I'm quite sure there was some unethical behavior in their being able to recruit in Malone and Payton to that team. I think WWWes was involved.

I think this team has Elite 8 ability. The tourny is all about matchups and Tennessee matches up really well with alot of styles of play but they could just as easily be one and done due to there inconsistency.
