He mentioned possibly starting Goins at the 1 and Maze at the 2 because of the lack of production from our SG spot. He called out McBee and Hopson's lack of performance given the amount of minutes they played. I think that would be an interesting lineup.

Our guard play has been and will be abysmal until we get some new blood in there. Hopson disappears for several games at a time, we have no one that can hit an open jump shot consistently, and we don't have a true pg.

Hey it's worth a try at this point we have nothing to lose going into Kentucky. Somebody has got to start hitting some shots or we are toast. The PG needs to drive the lane and dish. I don't believe either PG has been able to do much of that which hurts us. McBee looked like Nannny Mcphee out there last night and I know he's just a freshman but I don't think Hopson looked much better. I would expect a big game out of Hop since they will be in Kentucky.

When Kentucky plays both Wall and Bledsole, we would match up better with Goins and Maze. Hopson would not have a prayer of guarding Wall.

That sounds a like liek deciding to make JP Prince a point guard - AKA Despairation.

Mcbee is awful. Hopson can get it done but he is very inconsistent. Whatever Pearl does will be ok IMO.

If Hopson could actually dribble the ball more than twice w/out getting it stolen or losing it off his foot, it could help his offensive production. I never seen such a high rated prospect have such a terrible handle.

I know Pearl passed them over, but this is where guys like Terrance Ogelsby and Rotnei Clark would have come in handy. Guys that could actually shoot the ball.

Hopson was pathetic last night but I don't know who he thinks will do any better on this roster. Not alot of options if you want someone to actually make a basket.

Two guard is Maze's natural position. I think the biggest issue with Hopson is his defense. It's awful. And when he can't shoot, he has few redeeming qualities. Sure, he can slash to the rim, but so can Maze, and at least he plays defense. I'm hoping that last night was just a bad off night for Hopson, because so far he's been the most consistent 3 point shot on the team. Who knows, maybe Pearl thinks JP is it now :)pardon:) Anyway, it might serve as some motivation for Hopson.

I dread Saturday night. I'll have to listen to this for weeks! When does football season start?

Goins is our best PG, but he shoots too much. Maze would really shine at the 2, he seems to be the only player who knows when to slash to basket...so I wouldn't be surprised to see this. I just hope our guys bring a heck of a lot more than whatever that was last night, cuz that was downright embarrassing

goins can't shoot from the outside... but i did notice that he made a couple decent/nice-ish drives against their zone. he seemed quicker off the dribble last night that i've noticed before... but maybe it was just cuz everyone else was so pathetically slow. i wouldn't mind seeing goins/maze/hopson/chism/hall... or jp starting at the 3 spot. jp is a disaster waiting to happen... but at least the guy plays with good effort most of the time. if he'd just quit losing his mind with less than 4 minutes left i'd be satisfied with his contribution. if hopson is gonna mope around and not be the scorer we need... he can watch the whole 40 minutes.

I think it would be a good move. It would push the defense out further and give Chism more room to move. Plus Hopson has been awful since I saw all his comments about how he now has grown into a clutch player since he hit the shot against UF. More like his 15 seconds of fame. It's not just him though. Hall seems to be getting more fouls than points lately and finally......Pearl > Woolridge. Heart and effort is worth more than natural ability and little else..

Hopson will continue to start. And he should.

I think it makes sense to start Maze at the 2 against UK if they start the Wall, Bledsoe front-court. And if Hopson continues to play as poorly as he has played the last couple games, he does not need to continue starting. We have a lot of guys capable of 3-14 from the floor.

I'm wondering at this point if Hopson has any chance of getting into the NBA at all. He is only a sophomore, but he is infuriatingly inconsistent. That performance last night was probably the worst I've ever seen him play. It's like he was half asleep out there.

I know that Hopson has been in one of his seemingly-predictable slumps, but I can't see taking one of our most athletic players out of the lineup, especially given our lack of depth. Maze HAS shown a real drive to get to the basket in the past few games, and he just seems to "will" the ball in.

Honestly, I'm not sure that there IS an answer.

Our starting lineup should be:

Maze
Goins
Prince
Chism
Hall

with these guys subbing in:

Mcbee
Hopson

shoot. now theres noone left....aww crap.

starting lineup = good.
off the bench = dang thought this was one of our best features. oops.

I would sit him. Pearl could still play him alot. But I think a message needs to be sent that you don't halfass 3/4 of a game and keep your starting position.
