He mentioned possibly starting Goins at the 1 and Maze at the 2 because of the lack of production from our SG spot. He called out McBee and Hopson's lack of performance given the amount of minutes they played. I think that would be an interesting lineup.

BTW, Where did you hear this? Did he say this on the radio?

Keep in mind that the Cats 2 guard (Bledsoe) is way quicker than your average 2 guard - so Pearl may think Maze and Goins are more capable of keeping in front of the KY guards. Who Knows.... Won't Pearl zone Kentucky for most of the game though?

Hopson plays some of the worst defense on this team. Maze, by default, is a better defender. But when you actually watch them both play, there really isn't any question. Maze is a better more tenacious defender.

Against point guards, he used to get beat off the dribble a lot. I think he has improved, and is actually better suited to guard the 2.

i would think he plays a tight zone and tries to force more outside shots. if we allow driving lanes for wall, it will provide too many opportunities for defensive breakdowns allowing open looks for Cousins and Patterson. If those guys are given room to operate, they will destroy us. We just don't have the personnel to match up.

Not sure how many turnovers Tennessee is likely to force, which could be key... but I think rebounding is going to be key. We have to be much better on the boards. I hope our big guys are able to get physical and fight on those boards, because it will be crucial.
