This article is a little over the top.

Btw, isn't Forde a Louisville fan?

I can't stand Cal but he's a heck of a coach. Its easy to look good with NBA teams every year but he's compassionate and is constantly coaching on the side lines.

And no...this loss was not nearly as bad as John Wall and co laying an egg in the same arena. At least Kentucky lost to a good coach this time.

I think Calipari is a great coach and cares about his players. That being said, he needs to mix in some role players and four year guys to the incredible classes he's pulling in. UK simply doesn't have the veteran leadership and experience that they had on their national title team, as well as teams like Louisville last year.

I thought this year would have been a little different with a couple two year players leading the team. But WCS and Poythress have shown zero leadership and disappear throughout the season. The others (Hood and Polson) just aren't athletic and good enough to get time on court.

That said, hopefully guys like Darkari Johnson, Derek Willis, and Marcus Lee can stay at least 2 or 3 more years. But it's more than just staying for the time. They have to step up and embrace a role like Darius Miller did.

One word: manipulator. He has made a living at being a salesman and a manipulator. He will say things as facts, and the fans will believe them, but they simply aren't true. I will give him credit that he is great at what he does, but people fall for it because he has been successful. He is a better motivator than coach, but that is half the battle in college. I would not at all be surprised if he made his way back to the NBA. I think he would fit right in with NY.

Good point.

I wouldn't be shocked either he's back in the NBA after next season.

WCS is not leader material. He was the first to throw his arms up in disgust when UT laid the wood to UK in the spring of 2013. I also thought Poythress would and should have been the golden boy for the kittens this year. Not so. Perhaps Wiltjer was the smart one out of the bunch.

Poythress stats don't tell his whole story. Alex has been solid as hell for the majority of the season.

Cal hates the 1-and-done setup, and has said so numerous times. He does exploit it however. He'd be a fool not to.

It's hard to turn down the "best" players but there's plenty of 4-5* guys that do and will continue to stay multiple years. KU, Duke, UNC etc. usually only have 1 guy, and occasionally 2, who leave after a year. Cal shoots himself in the foot by loading up on all the guys who choose to leave early. As others pointed out, his best teams have been when he's had upperclassmen leadership, most who werent his guys.

He wouldn't have won that NC without those key role players that he didnt recruit. Now they have no role players and its just a bunch of "me first" players taking a bunch of "my turn" shots as Jimmy D would say.

That UK title team curb stomped my Bears in the Elite 8. Since that game Scott Drew is 2-0 vs Cal, using two different JUCO point gaurds too boot. Let that sink in...SCOTT "FREAKING" DREW!!!
