Interesting Read on UF recruiting.

Riley Cooper, David Nelson, Lou Murphy and few other are in the NFL making an impact with teams. Tebow covered up mistakes last season but before this Meyers offense was one of the most productive in the country. Ranked in the Top 10 before Mullen took the MSU job.

So? See my post right above yours. :hi:

I agree....most of the recruits are going to buy into the long term return but some will look for the quick gain. When you come from programs like STA,GCHS,lakeland and others many of these kids believe they can make it to the next level but forget that they need to be coached up. Problem I'm seeing this season with UF is the lack of being coached up.....just seems like they are out there on talent alone.

Tebow left a huge vacuum in the leadership department, and you are stuck with struggling to find an offensive scheme and identity. I'd rather have two QBs than two different offenses.

I know you touched on it but a very good portion of the blame falls on the athletes themselves. Many of these kids probably came into the program thinking it was simply a case of plugging them in and letting them play with similar results Florida had in the last few years. Call it lazy or simply unrealistic expectations these players might never have taken into account the hard work the guys before them put in making themselves and their respective units better.

You see it happen from time to time, new players come into a successful system believing the results of the past will automatically come to them too. The coaches can only motivate the players to do so much, at some point they must take over and push to the next level.

That's where Tebow's absence is felt the most. They have no leadership on their team. Nobody to rally the team. Tebow would basically put the team on his back.

I honestly don't know what the big fuss is about. We expect so many great things from UF every year because of the talent they get and put on the field. They lost some leadership and good players (Haden, Spikes, Tebow, etc.) this past season. I don't think Mullen is playing that large of a role in it, but it possibly hurts. Meyer is a pretty good offensive-minded coach himself. Moreover, I think the main problem lies with Meyer. How can someone not question his motivation, energy, and even ability to keep coaching with all of the drama he brings with him.

Without Tebow the gators will never be the same he was perfect for that offense, they are and will be a top 10 program but they will not be dominant like the tebow years.

Percy Harvin, Aaron Hernandez, and who is the QB you are referring to Alex Smith or Tebow. Not a very good list.

Exactly. I can't believe the response that got when they have a tiny amount of skill guys in the pros. Lets add running backs to the list. They have none in the pro's. And boy, Alex Smith sure is gangbuster's isn't he. So are the 2 receivers meyer had at Utah that went out early and didn't get drafted.

Stop. Cooper is hurt, and was 3rd string behind Jackson and Maclin and will not make an impact unless they get hurt. I will give you Murphy, but Nelson? What? By this logic Michigan State fans can claim their ability to train NFL wideouts thanks to the likes of Devin Thomas. I mean, he is on an NFL roster? Oh wait....oh yeah-the panthers just signed him. Championship.

Have you ever invested in mutual funds? After each fund's performance record and rating, you will always see the following disclaimer: "Past performance is no guarantee of future results."

Maybe, without St. Tebow, the Gators are on their way down. Maybe some recruits would rather take a chance on a program that is hopefully on the way up. UT? :dunno:

Like mutual fund investors, recruits are free to make their own choices in life. (And live with the consequences.)

Much needed phrase to ur post.

lol...Nelson led the team in reciving in preseaon and going into this weekend was second(catches) and third(yards)....not bad for a guy that was undrafted. Championship help butthey are only part of the formula.... even Ron Zook got players to UF.

Preseason? Where did Victor Cruz go to college? That has got to be the new WR U.

I said this in a thread back in February.

"Let's not call Meyer a success because of the spread offense. He's a success because he's probably had the best or top 5 defense in the country since he's been there. To boot, he had Tebow for the last four years. I am very ready to see his offense with a regular QB running it. I bet the averages go down, but the defense could remain very good and keep them winning."

Mullen being gone has made a big difference and now I'm thinking Charlie Strong may be the same deal. I wouldn't be surprised if Meyer retires after this season or next and Mullen becomes the next coach.
