"So this is it Tennessee? This is where you are as a program? You lose by 10, never threaten to win the game and you’re singing “Rocky Top” all the way home? Hey Vol fans, if the game had unfolded the same way and Phillip Fulmer was your coach, how would you feel? You’d be ripping him for conservative play-calling. This is the quote that was the stunner from Lanie Kiffin: “We probably could have kept (the score) closer if I had been even more conservative, but we took some shots and things got away from us a little bit.” What shots? Did he see the same game I did? Tennessee did not come to Gainesville to win but to not be embarrassed and go home talking about a moral victory." :shades:

Please, Gator fans, stop posting things on this board.. we get it.. You're scared and trying to do everything possible to make us realize you are superior to us, but you're not.

Somehow I thought you wouldn't agree.

A Gainesville Gator shill says that and we're supposed to crap ourselves with fear?

You might want to rethink that postion.

Well if you're so superior, then why is there a gator thread started every 2 mins on how we shouldn't take anything positive from this game?

I feel we are vastly superior to South Carolina, Kentucky, Vandy, etc.. but you don't see me over there posting irrelevant articles every 5 mins trying to get them to understand it...

Imagine that........a Gainesville homer parroting Meyers excuse.

Tennessee gave them all they had in that game, they played to win but couldn't overcome the talent gap on offense. Now we have Gator fans, coaches and the media making excuses for the win and trying to somehow turn that back on UT coaches and fans?

Look the simple truth is a less talented squad came in and made you play to stay in control. Far cry from the beat down Gator coaches, players, fans and media expected and now they feel they have to answer for it, justify it somehow.

The only way to justify it is that all talent equal this staff wins that ballgame 6 times out of 10. This fan base will tolerate a loss in this game due to the talent gap that needs to be improved upon. We will wait for that to happen and when it does (matter of time) this coaching staff will compete with anybody. Until then we will take a 10 point loss against the number one team in the country when most people thought we would be run off the field.

The game was three days ago and in four we all play another team, and another after that, and another after that.

This is over.

I'm confused...We lost by 10 points to the #1 team in the country.. should we be embarrassed and say we fell short of expectations going into the game?

You might want to rethink that postion.

The coaching (defense in particular) was superior on the Vol sideline during that game. This coaching staff can recruit with anybody. What happens when an excellent coaching staff is paired with top notch recruits? It is a matter of time and you know it, the days of Florida having no challenge for top billing from the Vols are numbered.

Letting Cromptom throw down field is a huge risk for this team, the two times he did guess what happened. Despite that this coaching staff forced Urban to play the way that benefited him the most, grind it out and stay close enough that a break or two goes your way you have a shot. The game plan worked, we just didn't have the horses to pull it off.

This is a win we can build off, what can Florida take away from this game other than a win they were supposed to get anyway? Seems to Florida has a few questions that need answering, we already know where we were, now it looks like you do as well.

Florida has it's work cut out for them (as is always the case in the SEC). I am not some delusional fan but I can honestly say that Florida exited that game with a couple of question marks. There certainly needs to be improvement in some areas, Harvin is especially missed in this years team. I think there will be a tougher road for you this year in respect to your title aspirations.

Actually UF took the lead...and congratulations for UT getting most of those series wins prior to Elvis and Howdy Doody.

2 Bits,

#2 says - But the game did show something. It showed that all summer when I was on radio shows around the country telling people Florida had a major issue at wide receiver and the Gators might not be a shoo-in for the national title game because of that and they all scoffed at me, well, I was right. Now, suddenly, everybody sees what I was talking about. But now that they see it, they discovered it. Dude, it has been there all along.

Isn't that what you jumped on BPV for saying in another thread in this forum?

So what you're saying is that in twenty or thirty years we can discard all your wins in the 90's and 00's on account that your team had the flu for those decades?

However you slice it, your program was a meddling middle school team compared to UT for decades and you finally realized your state had good weather and good reasons to play HS football and then let them gradulate onto the University. Give yourself a pat on the back for FINALLY figuring that formula out.

No, i think he's saying that aside from a few 'perfect storm' years, UT football hasn't been relevant in a half century.

you're right, though. we weren't good for a long time. but we're on top now, and it feels soooo good.
