Gets full coverage of the BCSMNCG for the first time this year and it's the first year with a controversial title game and they're suddenly not covering the possible split national title angle.

Or doing anything other than droning on about what a great game it was, for that matter. Which it wasn't.

I proudly watched zero seconds of the ESPN Championship Game. This type of game should have been seen coming a mile away. Alabama had all of the motivation. LSU could never shake the feeling that they already beat that team and put them away weeks ago. Rightfully, they should have. Alabama was playing to try and show that they deserved a shot. The team with the better motivation won. Nothing was decided in my mind besides the fact that ESPN enjoys when they own both teams in the title game that they now own. I guess Vol fans can celebrate the Alabama championship by chanting "S-E-C!" Enjoy it.

Come on, you all had to know this would happen once they got a hold of its contract

No real benefit for ESPN to bad mouth its own program to people who would watch it right?

Bama should have won the first game anyway. Even IF it had been a close game I don't think enough voters would have voted them (LSU) as number 1

I suppose that is the official argument for dismissing the fact that Alabama didn't win its division, its conference, nor did they beat LSU to earn that right. They should have done it. That makes it all go away. :peace:

Saban should send the ESPN execs a championship ring as well. ESPN was lobbying hard to get Bama in the title game. I don't think I have ever seen ESPN pump up a team more than they did with Bama this year.

Do you guys remember all the talking points from the ESPN talking heads. Bama did not lose in regulation, regardless of what Okie St. does they will not pass Bama, etc. ESPN would then interview Saban at every opportunity to campaign for his team. How many times did you guys see Gundy on ESPN?

They were/are the best team in college football this year

Guess it all depends if you want the two best teams in the country or the two best conference winners to play for a NC. Personally I want the two best teams.

Okie Lite lost to an unranked team. Bama lost to #1 team. Bama plays in a much tougher conference.

Okie State had a chance to make their case against Stanford. They had trouble with a Pac-10 defense and win only cause Stanfords kicker misses a chip shot. After that no objective fan was buying Okie Lite. Thats why no one was talking Okie Lite.

As the network with the contract to televise the game, why wouldn't they want the two best teams in the nation to play each other in said game? Why would they lobby for a second rate team like OK St. just because they won their conference? It blows my mind why people can't acknowledge the possibility that the best two teams in college football can come from the same conference.

I agree that the two best team's played yesterday, but perhaps ESPN would have liked a different team other than Bama last night. Ratings were down 16 percent vs last year.

Dish was out at my house so I didn't watch. Didn't call the dish people because I didn't call Sunday when my wife couldn't watch desperate housewives. Fair is fair.

The quarterlies show that people tuned out after halftime. AU-Oregon was a close game that kept people tuned in. Last nite featured Mr Jefferson's Wild Ride. Not hard to see why it didn't draw as well.

They put the two best teams on the field. That was a tough draw for LSU. Bama had lost to them two times in a row and had all the motivation in the world. LSU had Jordan Jefferson, so it was win win for Bama.
