This site is pretty fast. Not like it was about 3 days ago but any other site I go to it is taking me way longer than it used to. I've deleted my cookies/temp internet files. I have everything set up the same as I did since I put it in. It's just been slower than usual the last couple of days. Anyone got any ideas?

It could be any number of things really. Have you tried a different browser, firefox maybe? You might look and see what other programs are running. Could you have some spyware that may be using up bandwidth? I've seen that happen. Maybe try a spyware cleaner.

How slow is it exactly?

It takes me forever to watch 3 minute videos. Pages load really slow. It's just frustrating me. When it started happening I download firefox and did that special thing that loads pages faster. It didn't help either. I'll try using my spyware cleaner and see if that helps me out.

Are those streaming videos like on YouTube, or are we talking about a general slowdown of any video of any kind? You may have a virtual memory issue.

This also has an affect on XBOX Live sometimes.
Then you are basically talking about an issue with your router and/or modem.

What sort of setup do you have in that department? Do you have a wireless router? If so, do you have any encryption enabled, or is it open?

For some reason, wireless wouldn't work in my house. So the comp in my room is connected to the router through a wire that runs underneath the house.

But if your wireless router is still enabled, someone may be connecting and stealing your bandwidth.

Pressing ALT + F4 will alleviate just about any problem you are having with the internet.

Wireless isn't set up. Any other ideas?
These are some things I do whenever my computer is slow:
I'm not sure what your computer knowledge is but I'll just cover as much as I can.
1.Unplug everything for 20 seconds(modem included) reboot
2.Go to start, then run and type in ms.com and see what all you have on your start up files that can be removed
3.Go to control panel and remove any programs that you know you don't need (in turn giving you more memory)
4.Scan computer for virus with either norton,MCAfee, etc.(free for comcast providers)
5.If your modem is old,get a new one
6.Download free version of spyware doctor (off of google updater).Scan computer, this will pick up alot hitchhikers such as adware, traking cookies, etc.
7.I've actually purchased recovery disks previously on one computer and unloaded and reloaded everything.
I hope something helps.I am in no way a computer wiz at all, the little bit I've learned is from my brother in law who happens to do this stuff for a living, traveling the states, etc.,setting up computer systems , etc. Needless to say if I have too much of a hassle I bug him and he fixes it for me.
One more thing, if you do have a lot of videos, music downloads, this too can steal a lot of memory, of course you can always add more memory to your computer.

I've done all of that stuff except reboot everything. The other comp was having problems and we're taking it to get fixed tomorrow. Maybe that will help.
